After our nice lunch at Lake Shirley we decided to have one more adventure where we climbed up a very steep slippery rocky ridge to go and see Lake Vilate and Gadsby. Wowsee wow wow were the views breathtaking! And we saw probably 6 different sets of moose tracks. The below picture is of twin lakes.
Hard to see in this picture, but Vilate Lake is above Shirley lake (which is the green lake).
If you look closely you can see Vilates green water to the left of the tree at the bottom of the picture.
And this tiny little turquoise lake is Gadsby!
Some more of the gorgeous views we saw while hiking!
We considered hiking down the way we had come up since we knew we’d eventually find the trail down, but we’d have to back track pretty far so instead we opted to brave our own trail. This ended up being a genius idea because we got down the mountain in just over an hour! Wow!
When we finally got down the mountain we ended up on the South side of the meadow, which was perfect. It meant a super short walk back to camp!
Adam immediately got to work getting an awesome fire going for us. He ended up doing a Tee pee fire in the middle of a giant log cabin!
Another AMAZING day in the Winds! We love this place!
