Hike to Jones Ranch Waterfall

For the past little while I’ve been getting headaches everyday in the afternoon. Usually some ibprofen, excedrine, or tylenol help me get rid of them, but I’ve had a few days where even medicine doesn’t help and I can’t get the headache to go away without heat pads, deep blue, and medicine. I’m guessing the headaches are due to stress (I’m trying to plan our family vacation this year, couples trip, Adam’s 40th birthday, and have a bunch of other things going on – like my 20 year HS reunion, weddings, and other trips I need to plan for) and so I’ve felt a little frazzled and overwhelmed lately. I really love planning fun trips but they can also really stress me out because I am usually the one that does about 98% of the packing, organizing, planning, shopping, and meal prep for all our trips. Adam helps where he can, but is usually working until minutes before we leave and then works while I drive us to wherever we are going. He does load the trailer for me though and packs his own bag which does help.
So anyway, I figured I’d better get into see my chiropractor to help fix my constant headaches. He usually does a great job getting my ribs and spine and vertebrae all lined up nicely to where my headaches completely disappear. I hold a lot of my stress in my neck and so relieving that pressure works miracles for my headaches. While at the doctors though I happened to mention how much I love hiking and my Chiropractor told me about some awesome hikes up Payson and Santaquin canyon that I’d never heard about that are easy and kid friendly. So I immediately made plans to go and take the kids the very next day! I always love finding new fun places to have an adventure!
The hiking trail was actually pretty hard to find and the kids and I ended up in a swampy marsh where both Adalynn and I stepped in mud and got bit by mosquitos multiple times, but eventually we did find the trail head which took us directly to the double tiered waterfall! It was a great little hike!

The trail took us to the top of the waterfall where we didn’t have a great view of the two tiers so we took a few side trails to see if we could get further below. The only problem was that the trails were super steep and really hard to maneuver, but eventually we did get down far enough to see the waterfall in all its glory.

We unfortunately couldn’t figure out a way to the bottom though and little Ady didn’t like hiking such steep terrain and so we decided we’d better wait and try to do the hike again another day with Adam. Ady also had scratched her foot pretty good and was bleeding so we didn’t want to push it.

We saw some beautiful wild flowers while we hiked back.

My sweet little Dawson secretly picked me flowers during our hike back to the car. He knows how much I love flowers and loves to find ways to show me love and make me happy! I love how thoughtful he is and that he is always thinking of me. I just wish he’d remember that I’ve taught him to leave pretty flowers unpicked and just take pictures of them so that other hikers can enjoy them too! But I loved that his heart was in the right place and that he wanted to put a smile on my face!

This poor fella ended up being allergic to something in the air and ended up with a bad rash on his face. This is the third time this has happened and we still aren’t sure what exactly he is that causes the rash, but it usually comes and goes quickly. But this time it lasted all day!

We sure did love discovering a new place though and hope to come back here again and make it to the bottom of the waterfall.
