After our hike to see Old Juniper, we headed down to Garden City for lunch at the Quick and Tasty where we all got shakes and fries and burgers. Yum! Then we headed over to a new beach Adam and I discovered last year when we drove around the entire lake. Its on the Southeast side of the lake and the perfect place for kids. Best part? Its free and doesn’t require driving an hour around the lake to North beach. Yay!
We were a little worried that it would be too cold to have a day at the beach, but luckily as the afternoon progressed the weather got warmer and warmer and the clouds got fewer and fewer. Still those of us that were wimps (Kimber and I) opted to stay in our clothes and not change into swim suits since it still got pretty dang cold when the sun went behind the clouds. We had fun watching everyone else have fun though and we still managed to get covered in sand thanks to Jamis!
The boys finally got to use the double tube we bought last year and never opened. They had fun pushing each other around the lake and even got Ady to go with them on a couple of their adventures.
Jamis wasn’t sure what to think about playing in the sand at first, but eventually he decided it was pretty fun.
Ady didn’t last long in the cold Bear Lake water and opted to come and snuggle in towels by Kimber and I.

Eric had fun burying the kids in the sand! The kids sure did love having Eric and Kimber around!
Jamis gives our time at Bear Lake a big Thumbs up!

And I think its safe to say that we sufficiently wore out the kids! This was what our car looked like after about 15 minutes on the road. 5 for 5 were out like a light!
We ended up getting back to our cabin about 4:30 for naps, and then at around 5:30 my old mission buddy Travis Baldwin and his family came up for a quick visit. Elder Baldwin and I started out in the MTC together and actually served in the same area for 14 out of my 18 months in Slovenia and became the best of friends while on the mission. It was wonderful to get to catch up with his family and hear about the wonderful things they are doing. Travis is a dentist, 1st counselor in the bishopric, and he coaches soccer! He is one busy fella!
The rest of the night we spent back at the cabin where we had a wonderful lasagna dinner with Texas toast, salad, and brownies, and then Adam made us a big fire out back where we roasted smores. The kids also got some TV time and had fun watching the end of Ratatouille.
It sure was a fun day spent with wonderful friends!
