As far as beautiful waterfalls go it’s hard to match the sheer power and size of Niagara Falls. This was one of my favorite stops we made back in 1996, and it did not disappoint on this trip either. Such an amazing and magnificent place!
We were lucky to visit on an absolutely beautiful day and on a day with fewer crowds. We even found free parking which was an unexpected surprise.
Since I had already been to Niagara Falls before and was pretty sure I had done the wind caves, I wanted to try something new and suggested we go on Maid of the Midst which takes you down right near the bottom of the falls. What an adventure that was! It was a little pricey at $130 for our family (minus Branson who was back in Utah at Engineering camp) but an amazing experience I’m glad we did. I absolutely loved it and Dawson gave it a 12 out of 10!
Normally boats hold 600 people and leave every 15-20 minutes but our boat only had maybe 100-150 people. So we could walk around the viewing deck easily for better pictures. 🥰
The falls were incredible and the midst and wind insane! We were all laughing and smiling the whole time.
Afterwards we went through customs on the Canadian border to cross over to see the Canadian side of the falls. We were happy when lines went fast and we got through the border in just under 30 minutes.
We headed to our VRBO first to check in and spent the afternoon relaxing and then later we met up with some of our dear friends Nagendra and Rajeshwari Nukala who we met in India back in 2014 when we lived there. They had moved to Toronto and were kind enough to drive down to see us! It was amazing to catch up with them. Such treasured friends! ❤️
Nagendra treated us to ice cream (thank you again!) and then we all headed down go see the light and fireworks show down at the falls that happens each night at 10pm. Such a fun event that apparently happens 144 days of the year! But a wonderful way to end the day!
Oh and another tender mercy…as we were driving around trying to find parking in Canada, I stopped to check out pricing and a man who was leaving gave Adam his parking ticket that was paid through until 2 am so we got to park for free on the Canadian side too! People seriously are so kind and good! But it really warmed my heart! Thank you kind stranger! ❤️
