Day 3 back East had us doing a car tour to different sights around the University of Virginia. We saw where Edgar Allen Poe lived, and the rotunda Thomas Jefferson designed.
We had lunch in downtown Charlottesville at a Turkish restaurant where some of the kids got to try Shwarma and baklava for the first time. Yum!
We then headed over to Monticello to see Thomas Jefferson’s house. My favorite part was just walking the grounds! Virginia is seriously SO pretty! 🥰
We then drove 3.5 hours to Washington DC where we saw Arlington cemetery, Washington monument, Jefferson memorial, Korean War memorial, Martin Luther King Junior memorial, Lincoln memorial, world war 2 memorial – all part of the National mall.
Adam ordered Chinese food for dinner and had it door dashed to Lincoln memorial for us. Nice! We didn’t realize until after the driver left that the restaurant had forgotten utensils! 🤪 So we put our time in India to use, and we all eat with our hands! 😂
The kids favorite part? Seeing and catching fireflies on our way back to our car! 😂
We then drove to our hotel 10 minutes away at the Hyatt, unloaded all our gear and then Adam and Brans went and parked a few blocks away to save us the $53 parking fee! 😜 It was straight to bed for all of us After that! We were bushed!
