After lunch at Bow Lake, we hit the road again, but made a few short stops along the way to cool places. Hector Lake was one of those and I loved the reflection of the sky in the water. So pretty!
Then VERY last minute (like a minute before the exit) I had the idea to spontaneously go and see Yoho National Park which is just North of Lake Louise. Adam checked tripadvisor and it sounded like it was a pretty small park (only 14 things to see listed), so we thought we could see quite a bit of it in about 2 hours. It was definitely a hurried trip through Yoho, but we were so glad we took the time to go see it. We saw some pretty cool stuff!
Lake O’hara. Unfortunately no time to stop, but we snapped a few pictures as we drove past.
We also stopped at what appeared to be a very popular sight seeing destination (but the number of cars) but from what I could tell the only attraction was learning how pioneers carved tunnels in the mountains for the trains. You can see at the bottom of this picture one of the tunnels.
Here is another mountain with a train tunnel dug through it (bottom left).
We took a very quick drive up to see Takakkaw Falls, but didn’t end up stopping or hiking in due to lack of time, and just opted to stop the car and take a picture. Would love to come back and spend more time here someday though. There was SO much water coming off that mountain that the falls “spit” out towards the top. Can you see it?
Lots of great views while we drove, and lots of fun driving including some of the most steep and crazy hairpin turns!
We made a few stops in Yoho (but they all deserve their own blog post) so I’m going to skip forward and just include some of the pictures we took as we drove out of the park. Here is another view of Lake O’hara. This time the sun was out and we got to see more of its beautiful color!
Then we drove an hour back to Banff to check into our Worldmark Condo.
Loved the views as we traveled.
Another Amazing day in the mountains!
