After discovering we could hike up to the Icefield for free, we drove across the street to a closer parking lot, loaded up our backpacks with water and snacks, and bundled everyone up for our cold hike up the mountain. I don’t remember much about the hike besides the fact that both Harry and Branson wore flip flops (by choice) and that there was lots of complaining because it was steep, and lots of complaining because it was cold! ha ha! But we made it up and enjoyed teaching the kids about glaciers.
These were the folks who paid boo-koo bucks to be dropped off by a bus in order to walk on the icefields.
Pretty incredible place, but so sad to see how quickly the glacier has melted. I’m worried that the next time we come here, they will all be melted.
