Day at the Beach in Kochi

After a good nights sleep (well except for Adam who had to get on a 3 am call with America at a hotel down the street from us – since the internet in our flat wasn’t working) we decided to go out for a morning walk with the kids. Naveen our driver was still sleeping so we just walked the few blocks down to the beach to let the kids play for awhile.  I loved seeing these beautiful vines and flowers along the path as we walked.  India is so green this time of year!

The beach unfortunately wasn’t a very clean beach, or a very pretty one for that matter, but the boys didn’t seem to mind at all.  They just were so excited to BE at a beach and to be able to jump in the waves.  We hadn’t planned on getting wet, but by the end of our hour there, we were pretty much ALL soaked!

We were surprised too because there were a LOT of people swimming.  Even at that early hour.  Mostly men in underwear, but some older kids as well, and one woman who I’m assuming was on vacation with her family since they were all wearing life jackets.

Ady was the only one not impressed with the waves and water.  She preferred staying back and snuggling with Daddy.

The rest of us loved jumping the waves!
Or making silly poses!

We all really loved the seaweed too and popping all the poppers (not sure what they are called).
Sand castle building was also a hit!

After our hour at the beach we decided we’d better head back to the guesthouse to shower and go and get breakfast.  We were all wet and sandy and sticky though (not to mention hungry) so Adam suggested we pay .50 cents and take an auto rickshaw!  None of us were too disappointed in that prospect, but getting 6 people in a tiny rickshaw was a bit of a challenge!

Then after showers, we checked out of our guesthouse and then went and found a beautiful hotel restaurant that overlooked the beach to have our breakfast at.  We ended up finding this place on tripadvisor and specifically chose it because they had AMERICAN breakfast items.  Pancakes, waffles, BACON, eggs, cereal, you name it.  To say we eat our hearts out would be an understatement.  American food never tasted SO good!

We sure are loving all these fun adventures we are having living here in India!
What a wild but fun ride its been!
