Because we ended up getting to India a day earlier than we expected, our apartment wasn’t quite ready -requiring us to stay at a hotel for two nights. Adam really lucked out when he found the Jayamahal palace which had been converted into a hotel for only $51 dollars a night (per room). And lest you think the good price was because we were in India, let me just tell you that all the other hotels we’ve stayed in in India have been over $100. So hotels in India aren’t cheap! At least decent ones. This one was a 4 star hotel as well which made the price all the more impressive, and although the rooms weren’t anything to write home about, the palace gardens were simply BEAUTIFUL! But I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. We had a blast just walking around.
The kids on the balcony of our hotel room. The door behind Dawson was one of our two hotel rooms.

Exploring the palace grounds
Breakfast time! Each morning they had a buffet breakfast complete with your choice of either Indian food or American food. They always had hard boiled eggs, french toast, fruit, juice, vegetables, and omlets, and then would switch out the Indian food everyday. The kids loved all the variety but mostly stuck to French toast, hard boiled eggs, and fruit. They aren’t very adventures quite yet.
2 tomato omlets, french toast, pineapple, banana, hard boiled eggs, and vegetables (which were AWESOME!) In the background you can see an Indian donut (spicy) and idle which is a white pastry of sorts that you dip in sauces/gravy’s.
Cute and Sassy girl!
I seriously LOVE India because of all the amazing flowers, trees, and vegetation. I’m just not used to these kind of lush vibrant colors and plants in Utah. They take my breath away!
The Palace Pool which sadly was closed the first time we tried to use it for “cleaning.” We did go back the next day to try it out though and had a swell time. 🙂
The boys found a way into the center of the “bush.”
This plant/tree was so interesting to me because it produced TWO kinds of completely different looking flowers in completely different colors. On the same tree. So strange! But beautiful!
A closer look at the red flowers and below a closer look at the white/yellow ones.
Although this picture is not the best with the light cords in the picture, I did want to show family and friends back home this strange fruit. Its called a Jack fruit and inside are little yellow pods that you eat. Its actually completely delicious and probably my favorite “Indian” fruit I’ve had. Yum! And yes, these things are huge. Probably twice the size of a football.
The Palace restaurant which we never eat at.
The Jayamahal Palace – aka: our hotel. Beautiufl! Love all the details and colors.
I thought this tree was interesting. I’m guessing they trimmed it this way?
But if we are talking trees, this one is quickly becoming my new favorite. The orange/red color of these flowers is just SO vibrant and beautiful and makes me happy every time I see it! The trunks are also super thin and fun to climb. The kids all loved playing in this tree.
See the thin trunk? So interesting.
More of the beautiful trees and plants on our walk…
The palace even had this old slide made completely out of cement. I don’t think I’d want to slide on it, but the kids all thought it was fun. Or maybe not, from the look on Dawsons face. Ha!
More of my favorite tree and P.S. I have not photoshopped a single one of these pictures. They just really are that bright! 🙂
We found some old opened coconuts on our walk and Adam broke one open to show the kids what they look like inside (which wasn’t very helpful because they were rotting and didn’t even look like what a real coconut does) but the kids thought it was cool and liked the science lesson. 🙂
Even the greenery in India is AMAZING! I could take pictures of the trees, flowers and bushes here all day! Is it any wonder I love this place so much? It simply FILLS me with happiness to see things like this everyday! LOVE it!
Sure was a fun place to stay for our first few nights in India!
