Lunch at Cafe Mangii and the Bangalore Science Museum

When I came over to India with Adam back in February there were several restaurants that I absolutely fell in love with.  One of them was the Maangi Cafe in the UB City Mall where I had the best pasta dish I’d ever eaten before – a sort of garlic spaghetti dish with chicken.  It was seriously SO flavorful and I even attempted to make it back home but it just didn’t taste the same.  We had heard that they had a Mangii cafe near our home at our local mall, but when we went one day we couldn’t find it and ended up getting Chinese food. So this day we made sure and drove the extra 30 minutes to the RIGHT mall where we knew we could find it. My mouth was literally watering for it.
I can always tell we are near the UB City Mall because of this grand structure! It reminds me of New Yorks Empire State Building and its gorgeous both during the day and at night.

The kids got a kick out of the sign for this water fountain seen behind them.  It reads, “This is a fountain, not a shower.  Please enjoy it from the outside!”  Unfortunately Dawson didn’t listen to the sign or his Dad because by the time we left the mall – he was dripping soaking wet!

At the Maangi restaurant where they brought us bowls of fresh bread with garlic butter.  Yum!

And why didn’t I take a picture of the dish I love so much?  Because I was enjoying it too much to stop for that!  We also ended up getting two pizza’s (BBQ Chicken for Adam and Cheese for the kids) and then Brans got Chicken alfredo and loved his dish almost as much as I loved mine! Yum!  We love this place and even though its prices are similar to what we’d find in the states (aka: SUPER expensive for India) for me its worth EVERY penny. I think I may have to come here once a week! 🙂

Waiting outside the UB City Mall for our driver Naveen.  You can see how soaking wet Daws got in these next few pictures!  Ha ha!  We ended up having to strip him down, wring out his clothes and put them on the hot car to dry!

For our next adventure of the day we decided to hit the science museum.  Apparently all of India also had the same idea because the place was insanely crowded.  So much so that neither Adam or I were having a very good time because we were so worried about losing the kids in such crazy crowds.  We paid for Naveen our driver to come in and help us with the kids as well so we technically had 3 adults to 4 kids, but it was still crazy and we only lasted maybe 1.5-2 hours before we were completely DONE-ZO at the museum.  We might try to come back when all the kids start back up in school again.  School kids are off on their 2 month summer break right now in India which lasts from April to June 10th – so crowds should slow down significantly when school is back in session.  That will be a good thing for us and fighting crowds!

While waiting for Naveen to park the car the kids found a fun playground area to play in.  We also discovered a homeless mother with 3 kids and were able to give them each a fruit snack.  Harry and Dawson gave them to the kids and said they felt good afterwards.

Here the boys are standing in front of the “wright brothers” exhibit.

They also had this cool ball maze thing (seen on the ceiling) that the boys really loved.  It was cool to see all the many different ways the ball could go.

Dawson showing off our new home in India!

The building had 4 or 5 floors of fun exhibits to see and then at the top had a snack area where you could get ice cream, lunch, or snacks.  We ended up getting ice cream for everyone and enjoyed the view from the top.  You can see some of India’s crazy traffic below and how green and lush it is all over the city.  There is also construction going on almost everywhere you look.  Bangalore is growing like crazy!

Another view the UB building which is where the UB City Mall gets its name.

This is an art museum that is right next to the science museum.  We hope to see this another day but we were all too pooped to try to do two museums in one day.  I love the colors in this picture though!

Another great day in India!  We love it here!
