On Mothers Day the kids all surprised me with a sweet card they had made me with 40 things they love about me. The card had everything from “I love your snuggles” to “I love how you give us train rides in the swimming pool.” It was really cute and melted my heart. Then later Adam gave me a hand written love letter with lots of mushy gushy sweetness. Oh how I love him. He also helped take care of the kids all day, changed all diapers, and helped make and clean up dinner. He’s so good to me.
My biggest surprise though came as we were heading out to church. Apparently Adam had arranged for our driver to go and buy me up a beautiful Indian flower necklace the night before so the kids and Ad could give me flowers on Mothers Day morning. What a sweet sweet gesture and unexpected surprise. It sure made me feel special and loved. And holy batman was that flower necklace beautiful, and HUGE, and HEAVY! It made me feel like a super star and was so fragrant and lovely!
After church Adam took some our traditional Mothers Day pictures, and then he took the kids so that I could go and get in a good Sunday nap. Afterwards he took a nap, and while doing so I started making dinner for all of us. Once again, we had to get creative because our kitchen stuff hasn’t arrived at our apartment yet (its in India but going through customs) so all we ended up having for dinner was potato salad. BUT…man alive did that stuff taste good and it was nice to have a taste of home here in India. Then later that night we also made up some of our American double chocolate cookies and then put ice cream on them to boot.
We finished up our day by calling our Moms to wish them a Happy Mothers Day and enjoyed lengthy conversations with them both. Adam and I sure have been blessed with AMAZING mothers and we feel eternally grateful for all of their sacrifices, hard work, encouragement and love. What would we do without mothers? How grateful we are for their examples and love. It was awesome to talk to them both and a great way to end a fabulous day! Love you Mom and Mumsie! Thank you for all you do for us!
Below are some pictures from our Indian Mothers Day photo shoot!
Dawson was in desperate need of a nap and super hungry for lunch which wasn’t a good combination for a good picture. But I still love this pic, because this is REAL life. Motherhood certainly is not all rainbows and unicorns!
Isn’t that a beautiful necklace? So awesome!
I sure do love these kids of mine and am so grateful that I get to be their Mommy! How blessed I am!
