Yellow Cave Temple in Sri Lanka

On Sunday we went to church at an LDS ward in Negombo.  Although most of the meeting was in Sri Lankan and we couldn’t understand what people were saying, we just felt the warmest nicest spirit there.  The members were all SO kind and friendly too, and really made us feel at home.  In fact one of them, Shammika, ended up INSISTING on helping us plan the rest of our trip in Sri Lanka, and not only arranged a nice air conditioned van or us to go sight seeing in, but he also became our tour guide as well!  He was awesome! We loved exploring Sri Lanka with him, and getting to know him better, and it was great to hear all about the country and tourist attractions!
The first stop on our tour was to a temple built right into the mountain.  For the life of me I can’t remember the name, or the city it was in, and even google isn’t puling anything up when I put in “yellow temples in Sri Lanka.”  So for now, we will just call it the yellow cave temple and leave it at that! 🙂

I was surprised to see all these cacti flourishing in the Sri Lankan climate considering it was HOT and HUMID!

I don’t know why, but these blow up animal toys just cracked me up.  They were literally ALL over as we were driving.  around almost every bend.  I guess they are pretty popular in Sri Lanka?

We loved the views as we drove!

And occasionally when we got hungry we would stop at some of these street vendors to grab some snacks!

Shammika recommended we try this orange coconut but we’ve come to discover from India that none of us are that crazy about coconut juice.  We did try it though, but again weren’t impressed.  Maybe its an acquired taste?
