After our time at Lake Louise, we decided to go on the Bow Valley Parkway which would take us back the way we had come, but on a smaller road closer to the river. We hoped this would give us some different views of the park and allow us to see some new sites.

While on the Bow Valley Parkway, we also came across a place called Johnston Canyon, which had been highly rated on tripadviser, so we decided to take a side trip to see it. It was unfortunately time for me to feed Jamis, so I ended up staying in the car to pump a bottle, and wasn’t able to hike, but Adam was able to go and check out the canyon with the kids and was nice enough to take some pictures for me. Wow, was it a beautiful place! I was sad to have missed it!
Love this “S” tree!
Adam said it reminded him a lot of Vintgar from my mission. Sure was a pretty place!
We lucked out too and got to see a big bull elk while we were leaving too!
Afterwards we drove back to our campsite at Willow Creek Campground where we got a fire going and then roasted some pigs in a blanket for dinner using little smokies and crescent rolls. The kids thought those were the best things ever and when I asked Ady later what her favorite part of our trip was, she said “putting the pigs to bed in their blankets!” Ha ha! So apparently it was a very fond memory for her! Cute. We will definitely have to do those again soon.
Adam was awesome too and while I worked on getting the fire started and dinner going, he took on the task of getting caught up on our laundry and took our van to the laundry facilities to start a few loads, and then went back several more times that evening, to switch the laundry and then bring it home. Sure am lucky to be married to such a great man!
Then after putting kids to bed, Adam and I cleaned up camp and packed up as much as we could so that we could get an early start the next morning since it was a traveling day and we’d be moving campsites again.
Sure was a wonderful day though and I loved getting to see so many beautiful places! We literally were just in awe with Banff and loved getting to be among some of Gods most glorious earthly creations!
