After a few hours playing at the beach we ventured into town to try to find some lunch for all of us “hung-ees” as we like to call them. Some of the foods looked better than others as you can imagine.
Anyone up for dried Octopus tentacles? No? Yeah, Neither were we.
(At least we THINK thats what these were).
Ah, much better. A corn dog is a corn dog even in Korea. đ
They had these crazy looking french fry corn dogs as well. Adam just couldn’t resist buying one. I thought it looked like a heart attack waiting to happen! But I did try a bite of his and for a girl that despises corn dogs, this was by far the best corn dog I’d ever eaten. Or maybe it was just the fact that it WASN’T Korean food? Ha ha!
Adam did introduce us to Korean ice cream cones afterwards and those I did love! Such fun shapes. This was the most common shape but they came in all shapes and sizes. Then they would just put soft serve ice cream down inside them for a fun treat!
We did actually eventually find an actual restaurant a little while later and decided to stop in for some Korean dumplings and soup. However, from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left we got some serious dirty looks, scowls, and comments from the owner/cook/waitress. She just either seemed to HATE Americans, or just our little family. She was so ornery and uptight and just constantly was getting upset and after the kids and even Adam and I for every little thing. She was the first and only lady I remember not treating us kindly during our time in Korea. Maybe she just had a bad day? Who knows, but we tried our best to get out of her restaurant as quickly as we could.
Here is our very friendly waitress – who we believe owned the place.
Since our grumpy waitress had gotten after the kids so much IN the restaurant, I decided it might be best to send them outside to get their wiggles out after they eat, while Adam finished up eating so they wouldn’t be loud or accidentally spill something, and to hopefully appease the owner. There was a GREAT puddle just outside the restaurant so I took them all outside to play in that. They loved it and at first I thought my genius plan was working!
But then after a few minutes outside, the grumpy lady came to the window (as you can see below) and started getting after us for puddle splashing. We just couldn’t win. Luckily Adam had finished off the rest of lunch by then and we were able to make our escape from the grumpy lady!
