In Korea they bring the meat out to you raw, and then they light up a little charcoal or gas cooker under the table and put a grill over it where you grill your own meat. They bring you out some tongs and some kitchen sheers to cut up your meat, and then you are expected to cook all the meat yourself. Then they also bring you out a ton of side dishes and lettuce so that you can make lettuce wraps!
The downside of these BBQ places though was that they were SUPER Pricey! Actually food in general in Korea was ridiculously expensive and usually was about double what you’d spend in the U.S. and about quadruple what we’d been spending in India and Thailand. We couldn’t get out the door without spending at least $30-50 per meal. For instance one night we ordered Pizza Hut for dinner and only got a cheese pizza and ended up spending $20 PER large pizza. Or $40 for two large pizza’s with nothing on them with cheese. If you wanted other toppings than the pizza price went up to close to $30 per pizza. Yikes! This was one of the major differences Adam noticed since the time he served his mission here. Back then, the food was relatively cheap.
