Day 13: Moorea Swimming with sharks and Ferry back to Tahiti

Day 13 was our last day in Moorea, so we decided to go big or go home and booked a jet skiing adventure to swim with reef sharks and sting rays. 😳

This was one of the tours I was most excited about because it was our first time ever getting to swim with sharks! Which I will admit, kind of freaked me out, but also excited me! I also LOVE to jet ski, so it felt like the perfect excursion to end our time in Moorea.

We ended up checking out of our Hilton bungalow in the morning, and then the tour company picked us up from our hotel in an open air truck with bench seats and a bunch of other tourists just like us! It was fun getting to know some new people and hearing about their trips!

We were then taken to the main office where we filled out some waivers, put on our life vests, and then were taken to our jet ski. Our group consisted of Adam and I, our tour guide, and then a cute French family with 2 girls and a boyfriend.

Our tour guide then had us all drive in a straight line behind him as he zoomed all over around the island. It was a pedal to the metal type ride where it felt like we were going about as fast as the jetski could go which Adam didn’t love because I guess he was getting slapped in the face with my hair or hat or water half the time! 😂 Needless to say he insisted on driving the jet ski on our way back. 🤪

Our first stop was to see a pod of dolphins which was super cool, and then later we stopped and our tour guide had us all jump in the water and grab onto a rope where he pulled us behind his ski through an area with Sea Turtles! We weren’t allowed to touch them, but got up quite close to them which was awesome! No pictures, but we saw 3 or 4 different turtles and loved swimming with them! I was in heaven! 🥰

We stopped again later at a place we could snorkel, but we found the snorkeling wasn’t very clear due to the current, and there weren’t very many fish to see, so we didn’t stay long.

Our last stop was to swim with the sting rays and sharks! 😱 Our tour guide had food he brought to feed the sting rays, so we could pet them, which was so fun, and then within

just a few minutes, big 4-6 foot reef sharks started arriving!

I absolutely LOVED seeing the sharks and snorkeling with them and having them be so close. We weren’t allowed to touch them, but they swam all over around us and were easily within arms reach. It was incredible!

I’ll post some underwater video and pics our tour guide took. But such an amazing adventure!

Afterwards, we were taken back to our hotel, where Adam and I had a taxi waiting to take us to the port so we could catch our scheduled ferry back to the main island of Tahiti. We were flying out the next night, so we had almost a day and a half to see the island of Tahiti and we wanted to make the most of it!

Once we arrived via ferry on the mainland, we were picked up by our rental car company,

and they took us to the airport to pick up our car. We then drove to our airbnb we had rented, but were disappointed when our normal airbnb had something break and wasn’t available but grateful when they offered to put us up in a different location, so at least we weren’t homeless! It wasn’t as nice as our other place, but it was bigger, had a pool, and the most beautiful view of the city!

Adam and I got our luggage dropped off and then went grocery shopping to get some food for the next few days and then spent the rest of the evening vegging out at our condo and planning all the places we wanted to visit the next day! But another fantastic day in paradise!

Seeing all the sea life and beauty of the islands just filled my heart with awe of Gods love

for each of us to create such a magnificent world for us to live in! ❤️
