Tahiti Day 11: Moorea Overwater Bungalow

Throwback Thursday! Day 11 in Moorea, French Polynesia

I realized the other day that I never posted the rest of our Tahiti trip that we took last fall, and I want to print all our pictures in a book, so I hope you don’t mind a little sunshine, gorgeous water, overwater bungalows, and Tahitian dancing to interrupt your cold wintry weather for a minute. 😂 Who else absolutely loves beaches like me?

Day 11 consisted of waking up in our little open air Tahitian hut and going on a morning bike ride. Afterwards we packed up our belongings, cleaned up a bit, and then checked out. Our host was so gracious and sent us off with some cute Tahitian shell necklaces, and then helped me call and book a quick Jet ski excursion later that week since my french is pretty limited. đŸĨ°đŸ™ Thank you dear host!

We then went drove around the island and back to the ferry where we returned our rental car, and were taken to our next destination. That of an overwater bungalow at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort! ❤ī¸

This was the part of our trip that I was MOST excited about! Neither Adam and I had ever been in an overwater bungalow before, and really wanted to have the experience. However, when we saw that rooms were over $1000 a night at most resorts, we almost

didn’t go, but then came up with the genius idea to use credit card points (Chase Sapphire is the best for travel!) which let us go for FREE! Best decision ever!

To say our time at the Hilton was magical would be an understatement. I don’t even know how to describe how incredible it was. It was like living underwater in the ocean for a few days. Everywhere we walked we saw sea life as clear as if you were snorkeling right there in the water only you were above ground. The water was so calm and you could see so much! We saw sting rays, sharks, and just about every variety of fish you could imagine. It was absolutely amazing!

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and even wasn’t ready by the normal check in time, but Hilton did the nicest thing and gave us 2 free tickets to their buffet dinner and traditional Tahitian dance show that night which was a $200 gift! We were thrilled!

So after exploring the resort, checking out our room, relaxing on our private balcony, and taking some walks along the boardwalk, we dressed up nice and went to dinner! Hilton sat us on the very front row in the center, where we had the absolute best seats in the house. We felt so spoiled.

The buffet dinner was really nice and had a lot of variety, but the desserts were absolutely to die for! Here we got our first taste of Tahitian French pastries which Adam and I could not stop eating! Holy Wow were they good!

We ended the night with a beautiful sunset and complete JOY in our hearts to have spent another day together celebrating our love in paradise! ❤ī¸
