Tahiti Day 9: Moorea

Day 9 in French Polynesia was spent saying goodbye to new friends, disembarking from our cruise, and taking a Ferry from Tahiti over to our new location of Moorea, which was just 30 minutes away! Again we had rainy weather which unfortunately limited what we could do but we made the most of it.

In order to mix things up and have a more authentic Tahitian experience I had booked us a cute little Tahitian house right on the beach which normally would have been amazing, but due to the torrential downpour it made things a bit more interesting since it was an open air hut without glass windows, insulation, etc! 😂 I was glad I’d brought an extra blanket for the plane and that we found a comforter in the unit, because it was COLD!

I told Adam it felt almost like hurricane weather, and later we found out that we had indeed just experienced a tropical storm! Branches and debris were flying everywhere!

We ended up just hunkering down most of the day reading books, watching movies and playing games, but then later we ventured out in the crazy storm to get groceries and dinner.

One of the things that surprised us both was just how prevalent pizza places were. They were literally on almost every corner. We asked one French Polynesians guy what his favorite food was and he answered pizza, so we decided to give it a try. It was pretty delicious, I have to admit, and only $18 for a small! 😲 đŸ¤Ē Yes that is sarcasm you are sensing. 😂 I guess we are pretty spoiled in Utah with $6 large Little Ceasars!

The next morning the weather had cleared up thankfully so we were able to take a morning walk on the beach at sunrise and then we drove up to a lookout point and went on a morning hike as well. All before 8:00 in the morning! ❤ī¸
