After 4 glorious days at our Logan cabin it was time to head out for phase II of our 3 week journey towards Canada for Adam’s sabbatical. Our agenda was quite simple. Go see Shoshone falls, and then head up to Craters of the Moon National park. We spent Monday night packing up as much as we could and then Tuesday morning we headed out from the cabin right after breakfast. The drive to Shoshone Falls wasn’t two long – only about 2.5 hours – but it was well worth it to see this amazing and beautiful place! Who knew such an impressive waterfall existed so close to the Twin Falls area?
Since it was close to lunch time we decided to stop for lunch, and so we grabbed some sandwiches at a place called Papa Kelsey’s which just happened to be the original restaurant for a spin off place I worked at in High School called “Hot Papa’s.” But basically the food is the same and I LOVE it! Best subs, and cinnamon rolls out there and they make their own salad dressing too. So I luckily talked my very sweet husband into buying me all my favorite foods to take on our picnic lunch! We had fun splitting roast beef, turkey and ham sandwich with olives, and then also got an italian salad and cinnamon roll to go as well. Then we headed for Shoshone falls for our picnic.
We found a great little lake just before the falls and stopped there to enjoy our food. I loved that the lake had a life guard and everything. I was wishing we had more time to spend there.
Then after lunch we piled back into the car for the 2 minute drive to the falls. This isn’t Shoshone falls, but a little waterfall we passed on our way.
But this IS Shoshone Falls! They don’t call it the Niagra Falls of the west for nothing! đ
Such a fun place and so close to the freeway too! Definitely a stop to make if you are ever driving through Twin Falls! We loved getting to see the temple as we headed out as well.
