Bowman Lake & Lake McDonald

Our third day in Glacier National Park landed on a Sunday – so that morning we headed into Columbia Falls to attend a 10:00 ward.  We unfortunately got to church a little late and because there were so many visitors – they ended up having us sit in the RS room where we could at least listen in on the meeting.  I remember it was fast and testimony meeting, and at one point a lady with a very thick hick like accent got up to share her testimony.  I was so surprised by her accent that I had to go and sneak a peak at what she looked like half expecting her to be dressed in overalls and missing some teeth! ha ha.  But she was quite normal.  I sure did love her accent though!
We stayed for Sunday school and Priesthood and RS and at one point I needed to go and pump a bottle for Jamis but found the womens lounge completely FULL of nursing Mommy’s so I ended up having to go and pump a bottle in the car.  I was super impressed by the amount of faithful saints who had chosen to go to church while on vacation.  The visitors probably tripled the normal ward count.
Then after church was over we decided to take a nice Sunday drive to the other side of Glacier National Park.  Unfortunately it was a super SMOKEY day in the park – so the views weren’t nearly as breathtaking as they normally would be, but we still managed to see some pretty neat things.  Below are some pictures from our afternoon out exploring.

Drving through the small down of Polebridge.

Entering the park from the West entrance.

Our first stop was to Bowman Lake!  I loved this place and wished we would have planned a whole day to explore it.  It was beautiful!

A nice lady told us about a bridge where you could get some nice pictures, and so we took a short stroll down to see the bridge.

It was the perfect stop to throw rocks and cool our feet off in the water.

Then we were off to go and see Lake McDonald which is where we had hoped to camp.  It was also a beautiful lake – but we just stopped briefly for some pictures.

Glacier sure is a beautiful place!
