Glacier National Park – Trail of the Cedars

After our fun day boating on Flathead lake, we returned to our condo for some much needed rest and down time.  Our hero husbands were so kind though and while us Mom’s and babies napped, they went grocery shopping for the next leg of our trip.  Katie and I started dinner (Left over Mac & cheese and Tacos) while they were gone – and then once they got back, I spent the evening cooking up a storm (Hunters Stew, Potato Soup, and a pork roast), so that I could freeze a bunch of meals for camping.  It worked out well.
Adam and Eks also picked the kids up a movie while they were out (The new Annie movie) and so the kids watched that while the adults did laundry and packed up our cars as best we could. Then it was off to bed for everyone.
We ended up getting up pretty early that morning so that A) we could get to Glacier National park and get a good campsite, and B) so that we’d have more time to see as much of the park as possible before Katie and Eks needed to head home to Utah.
We unfortunately missed getting into our first choice campground of Lake McDonald by a mere 30 minutes, but we did end up having our pick of spots in Avalanche campground which we actually ended up liking better (with the exception that it wasn’t close to the lake).  The kids especially loved the deer that seemed to love wandering through our camp spot every afternoon.
Here Harry is within a few feet of the deer trying to get the deer to eat a carrot from his hand.  One of my favorite memories was actually feeding a deer in Banff Canada – so it was pretty cool to see Harry having a similar experience.

After finding a spot we liked, we unhooked the trailer and paid our site fees and then drove up the road just a bit to hike to the Trail of the Cedars.  We of course had to take advantage of a cool river being so close, and took a few minutes to throw rocks!

And then we were off!  I am so sad this picture is a little blurry, but I still love it to pieces!  So many cute faces of people I love!

The kids loved finding old tree stumps to climb on and in.  So fun!

Chloe was so cute and was determined to get Ady and little Eks together! She would walk holding onto both of their hands and then somehow get them holding hands with each other.  Tricksy! 🙂

The highlight on the hike I think we would all agree was this amazing gorge we saw!  It reminded me a lot of Vintgar on my mission in Slovenia!  Gorgeous water!

Love this shot of the Dad’s carrying around their youngest babies with cute pregnant Katie in the background carrying around her own babe!  Love that Adam and Eks got along so well too!  We sure did enjoy these good folks!

The pictures just don’t do this place justice, but I just loved the moss growing all over the rocks as well as the big leafy vegetation!  So pretty!

Cool shot of the roots of a fallen down tree.

Being carried sure is hard work!
Cute Aria asleep in the snuggli.
