McDonald Creek – Glacier National Park

After our fun adventure driving up to Logan Pass, we headed back to our campsite at Avalanche Creek where we had to part ways with our dear friends the Andersons who needed to head back to Utah for a family reunion.  We really were just in awe that they had come all the way to Northern Montana with us so spontaneously and we couldn’t help but feel blessed by their good examples and positive influence. We sure are blessed when it comes to the friend department and loved spending part of our vacation with their family! We Sure do love the Andersons! 🙂
After we parted from our friends, I talked Adam into heading North for one last little side trip to see McDonald Creek which we had passed on the Going to the Sun road.  I had gotten a glimpse of what looked like crystal turquoise water and wanted to take a closer look. Below are some of the pictures of the awesome creek we found!  So so pretty!

The water reminded me of Vintgar from my mission in Slovenia.  Gorgeous!

Ady and Jamis had fallen asleep during our short 5 minute drive so the three older boys and I went to explore while Adam kindly stayed back with the sleeping babes.  We had a great time walking along the water and determined that we needed to come back at some point to take advantage of this hidden gem!

Check out how crystal clear the water was.  So neat to see every rock in the river.

Love this shot of Adam as I looked up at him from the Creek.

Such a gorgeous place!

From there we returned home where I had hoped to get dinner going, but Adam ended up needing to make a quick trip into town to send a text (which took over 2 hours) and unfortunately he unknowingly took some of the needed supplies (like the fire starter, pots and pans, etc.) So I had to get a little creative with dinner that night and I ended up making cold pulled pork salads with ranch and fritos on them.  Then for dessert I made chocolate pudding to dip our chocolate chip cookies into.  Surprisingly enough, it turned out pretty good!

The kids especially loved the pudding!

A view of our cute camp site in Avalanche Creek Campground.

This little guy seemed to enjoy camping just as much as the rest of us and was a champ on all the hikes, and did great on all our long car rides.  He even for the most part slept through the night from about 9pm to 7am.

Sure was a fun first day at Glacier National Park!
