Day 6 back East had us checking out of Adams friends house in Delaware and driving 4 hours to Stroudsburg Pennsylvania.
In the morning the kids and I watched a movie called “Love, Kennedy” that had me bawling like a baby during about 90% of the show. It’s about a teenage girl who is diagnosed with Battens disease and the impact she left. So touching! I highly recommend it. 🥰
We then drove two hours to Philadelphia PA where Adam had organized for our family a tour of Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were both created and signed. It’s considered the “birthplace of America” and Adam mentioned later how sacred the building had felt for him as he thought about the freedoms we all now enjoy because of the sacrifices and fortitude of so many back then.
We then got to visit Benjamin Franklins birthplace, and then go and see the liberty bell. Very cool.
We did have a little scare though when after leaving the museum where the liberty bell was on display we realized Jamis our 7 year old was missing!! 😱😳This sent both Adam and I into a panic and we immediately retraced our steps to find Jamis. Thankfully we found him inside the museum with a ranger. He’d gotten distracted by a wall display and hadn’t realized we’d all left the building. We were all so happy to be reunited.
We then drove another 2 hours to Stroudburg to check into our Shawnee village Worldmark Adam had booked where we had quacamole and chips for dinner and peach pie for dessert! 😂 We then watched a few episodes of relative race which got me crying again! 😭😂🤪
