Bridal Veil Falls with Triston

Back at the beginning of the summer one of my amazing friends Triston texted me about getting our kids together this summer and doing a play date! I loved the idea and suggested we go to the Spanish Fork Reservoir the following week. Unfortunately, poor Tristons kids ended up coming down with a nasty flu bug so we had to cancel our fun adventure. Then summer hit, and life got busy with family reunions, vacations, etc., and we weren’t able to find a good time to meet up. Luckily we made our date happen just before school started! Only this time, we thought it might be fun to head to the mountains! Bridal Veil Falls to be exact as both of us had wanted to go there during the summer and just hadn’t made it up yet! We met at 10:30 in the morning on a beautiful Thursday in August.

We couldn’t believe when just after a few minutes of being at the falls we just so happened to run into Gerald Ashby of all people who is also one of our dearest friends! He had actually taken the day off for his birthday and ridden his bike all the way from Lehi Utah to Bridal Veil! Wow! It was so good seeing him for a few minutes before he headed back down the mountain!

The original plan had been to hike up to the top of the falls on one of the trails, but when Triston forgot to wear hiking shoes (flip flops unfortunately wouldn’t work), and needed to take care of her little niece which we didn’t have a baby back pack for, we had to improvise our plans. So I ended up taking some of the older kids up the face of the bottom fall, while Triston stayed below with some of the littles who didn’t want to go. Dawson being one of them.

Harry and Ady ended up going up with me, while Brans and Addison took off in the advanced party!
Tristons twins stayed back to play with Dawson and the baby!

See the falls behind me? That is where we ended up hiking after I checked out the foot trails and found them really slippery and steep. We all got super cold and wet feet, but it was actually pretty fun to climb up!

Ady was scared in a few places but hiked like a champ. And even Harry needed help from time to time feeling a little scared because of the fast moving water. But he made it to the top and loved being up there!

This is a picture I took when we were about half way up the lower falls.

And this is looking the other direction when we were about half way to the top.

Unfortunately at this point we ended up turning around because Ady was getting really scared and didn’t want to go up any higher. So this is as close as I’ve ever been to the upper falls! Darn it! But I still have it on my bucket list to someday hike to the top of Bridal Veil! Some day!

But we made it back down safe and sound! And the three older kids (Brans, Addison, & Harry) did make it all the way to the upper falls and loved it!

I sure do love getting outdoors with the kids and spending time with treasured friends! Next up? Part two of our adventure to Cascade Springs!
