This week Adam was supposed to be flying out to India for two weeks for some meetings. BUT after I had an emotional meltdown about him leaving me with 5 kids for a week (one of which is a newborn and up at night) Adam kindly agreed to talk to his boss to see if there was any chance he could go to the meetings remotely. Luckily his bosses wife had also just had a baby, and so he was understanding. However, bless Adam’s heart, that means that he has to work Indian hours which usually start at 8:30 at night and go until 5:30 in the morning! Yikes! But Adam has been a champ about it and it has been soooo nice to have him home. And since he’s up anyway participating in meetings he’s even taking the middle of the night shift with Jamis so that I can sleep a little longer! My HERO!!!
Adam then sleeps until around lunch time and then we get him for the rest of the day! So on Monday for family night we decided to take advantage of him being home and we headed up the canyon for some exploring. My friend Sue Petersen had told me about a great picnic spot up Santaquin canyon and so we headed up that way to check it out. And although we couldn’t find the spot Sue told me about, we did find some other really great places we are excited about and we even found some good rock climbing runs! Sweet! So I think this will mean many more trips over to Santaquin to explore this beautiful area!
As you can see, the kids all had a blast!
This tree stump was seriously so cool.
Hollow underneath with entrances on both sides, and fun to climb on top of!
We also loved that the river was kid friendly and didn’t have any deep spots where we worried about the kids falling in, or moving fast enough to take them downstream.
The only downfall of this place was the graffiti someone had colored on several of the rocks. But it made for a great lesson to teach the kids about keeping nature beautiful.
We ended our night with hot scones and honey butter from the Family Tree restaurant and then headed home for scriptures and prayers. We sure are loving all this fun family time we are getting due to the kids being out of school for the summer! It is so fun just to take off and have spontaneous adventures without having to worry about homework or getting kids to bed early! Oh how we love summer!
