Kodachrome Basin, Hogs Back, & Escalante,

The next leg of our Spring Break journey took us to Kodachrome Basin State Park which after just coming from Bryce seemed way overpriced and kinda lame. Especially considering we paid more to get into Kodachrome than into Snow Canyon which you could spend a week in! We literally saw everything in about 10 minutes. I’m sure we could have extended our time there by quite a bit by doing some hikes, but because we already had a long drive ahead of us, we just wanted to see the highlights of the park. We did end up stopping for lunch though and pulled over into a campsite to quickly eat some chips and salsa, and hummus, and fruit. Then we were off again to drive to Escalante and then Capital Reef.
The next few pictures were the highlights of what we saw in Kodachrome.

If you look closely at the background of this picture you can actually see the backside of Bryce. Pretty cool.

The rest of these pictures were taken as we drove through Escalante. I loved how diverse this road was. One minute you’d be in these petrified dunes and the next on top of a forested mountain. The road we took was really quite lovely to drive.

These next few pictures were taken while we were driving whats called “Hogs back.” It was the most surreal feeling because you had these canyons on BOTH sides of you with cliffs on either side. Kinda scary, but super cool at the same time.

Sure was a beautiful drive! Up next, Capital Reef!
