Light in the Storm

Lately we have had some pretty incredible storms here in Utah. Some just sprinkle on us for a few minutes, but others bring blankets of lightning and thunder. Its always fun to see the kids reactions to the storms as some get really excited (Harry and Dawson), while our little ran to our room in fear. Branson seemed impartial and preferred burying himself in a book.
In an order to help Ady not be so afraid of the storm, I went up into her room with her, opened up her blinds, and together we sat on her bed snuggling watching the storm. Then when lightning bolts burst from the sky I would excitedly say, “Oh I just love thunder and lightning storms!” as I ooohed and awed at each. After about 10 minutes of watching, Adalynn relaxed and finally was able to feel safe enough to go to sleep.
As I sat with Ady, I could also hear that Dawson and Harry had had a similar idea and were enjoying watching the storm. I could hear shouts of “Wow, did you see that,” to “oooh that was the biggest one yet!” They too seemed to be loving watching the lightning from their room, and I’m glad that I’ve at least passed my love of storms onto some of my kids! ha ha.
I also loved that as we watched the lightening, we could see the other side of the storm where the light from the sunset was blanketing the mountains in the back ground. I had to catch a few pictures as it was just a really cool phenomenon.
