Logan Cabin and Drive to Tony Grove

Over Memorial Day weekend our family was able to head up to our family cabin up in Logan for some much needed R&R. We had booked our cabin months in advance and invited our Jurashic Eggs group to come up with us, but when push came to shove it ended up that the Jurgens had to move that weekend and the Ashby’s all got sick! Darn it all. We were sad not to have them join us, but at the same time it ended up being really nice to have some one on one time with the Kerics! They sure are great friends and we love their happy cheerful easy going fun attitudes. We always have such a great time whenever we are in their company!
We ended up leaving Payson around 3:15, but within 30 minutes we hit some pretty bad traffic which slowed us to a snails pace from Lehi all the way to Layton. And since it was around dinner time by the time we finally reached Layton (around 5 pm), we decided just to make a quick pit stop at the local Texas Roadhouse where we had a gift card for a free dinner. Nice! The kids ordered mac and cheese and then Adam and I got a 6 oz steak and Road kill to share. Delicious!

Then we headed straight for the cabin where the Kerics met up with us about an hour after we arrived. We were excited to see that there were a few new updates to the cabin including a new fire place insert (that we didn’t use) and a newly refinished loft! Saweet! Adam ended up playing a game of “Pirates Life” with the kids while I worked on getting beds made and all our food unpacked and in the fridge. Then after we got kids in bed, we had fun catching up with the Kerics until midnight.

The next morning we had a yummy breakfast of frozen waffles and fruit and then had hoped to do a hike around Tony Grove Lake, but apparently Adam and I have never been up to the cabin in the spring because we didn’t realize it would still be completely covered in snow! So much so that we couldn’t even make it to the parking lot because the roads were covered and we hadn’t thought to bring up off road vehicles! ha ha! But we had a pretty good laugh about it and had a nice snow ball fight and then headed back down the mountain. We did however, make a quick stop to take some pictures of these beautiful mountains. Looking at these mountains, you’d never think Tony Grove would be covered in snow!
