On my side of the family there is a tradition of sorts where my brothers (who are hunters) invite everyone up to Fish Lake for one weekend a year during the hunting season. They call it the “Family weekend” and all kids, wives, dogs, etc. are invited and allowed to go be with them for the big hunt!
I’m not sure if I’m just a glutton for punishment, but every year I keep talking myself into going to these family camp outs even when I check the weather and KNOW its going to be absolutely crummy rainy muddy weather! But I love spending time with my family, and that always seems to trump the mud and ick and hours of laundry I know I’ll have to do when I get back. Its just too much fun to go up and spend that time with my brothers, parents, and nieces and nephews!
This year in particular I really stewed about going seeing as the weather was reporting non stop rain for 3 days straight. BUT because we’d been in India and traveling for almost 4 months, I was missing my family like crazy and just couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see everyone! So we made the last minute decision to head up despite the horrible roads and the fact that we’d be camping in small lakes and puddles for 3 days!
I do have to say though, that even despite it raining almost non-stop, we all had a BLAST and were so glad we went! Below are some pictures of our time with the Harrisons at Fish Lake.
Waking up in the tent trailer after an all night rain storm.
Daddy had to carry everyone to drier ground seeing as there was mud and puddles EVERYWHERE!
Getting set up to make breakfast in the trailer.
Who doesn’t love homemade breakfast burritos, and fruit salad while camping?
And what better thing to do on a rainy muddy day than go puddle splashing with cousins!?
Favorite Boy Cousins!
Check out Ady’s pants and shoes! But she was in camping heaven!
Cute little chase with a mint oreo in one hand and a dum dum sucker in the other! What a life!
We actually got a few minutes of sun later on and so we took a family 4-wheeler ride down the trail a bit.
Luke and Liesa unfortunately couldn’t get their big Motor Home up the muddy trails and therefore camped down below, so we stopped by to see them on our way out!
