During the Christmas break one of the things Adam and I talked about doing was going skiing together. However, prices to ski during December were really high and so Adam looked online and found a deal to ski on January 25th for $36 each! Score. We were both really excited and looked forward to a ski date together!
Sadly though Adam ended up having to bail on our ski date when his entire team all flew into town and he had back to back meetings. We tried reselling the tickets and exchanging them for another day, but the company’s rules and regulations did not allow for either option without costing us almost more than what we paid. So I had to get a little creative with my options. In the end I had the genius idea to just take the two oldest boys. Brans already had a 6th grade ski passport that we’d bought him (for $30) and hadn’t used yet so he was all squared away, and then we were able to get Harry in using Adam’s ticket! So it worked out perfectly!
The kids were also so excited too because they both got to play hooky from school! And my cute sister was kind enough to take Jamis for me, while a friend and neighbor agreed to let Ady ride the bus home with her daughter and play over there for a few hours. Everything came together so nicely and the boys and I had an awesome day up on the slopes!
Our first few runs were a little brutal seeing as the boys had forgotten most of their ski lessons the year before, but after a few quick refresher courses on how to snow plow and turn they did awesome! So good in fact that I couldn’t even keep up with them. They were zooming down that mountain faster than I dared go! They literally wouldn’t hardly turn at all and just went straight down. Where I prefer actually turning and taking my time going down. My legs were seriously burning trying to keep up with those two. But we had an absolute BLAST!
I told Adam when we got home that I am absolutely LOVING the age the boys are at. I loved being able to go backpacking with them this fall and have them carry their own packs and go all over the mountains without worrying about them, and I am loving that I can just take off for a fun day skiing with them now! It is like having two more live in best friends! I totally love it! The boys are just so much fun right now. I love being around them!
We really lucked out too and got an absolutely beautiful day up on the slopes. It snowed almost the entire way into the canyon, but then cleared right up just as we arrived and the weather was just perfect afterwards.
What an awesome day spent with these two cuties! We all loved our day skiing!
