One of our favorite places to go during the summer for a few hours of fun is to the Salem Pond. Not only is it beautiful, but it also has ducks to feed, a sandy beach for the kids to play in, and a nice playground. Plus it is mostly shaded with big beautiful trees and a view of the mountains and is a great escape from the summer heat. So for our first official day at home for the summer (where we were actually home and not at our cabin or helping my sister move) we decided a picnic was in order. The kids hurried to get their jobs done and then we made some tuna fish sandwiches and cut up some strawberries, grabbed some chips, carrots, grapes, juice boxes, and cookies and were off!
After our picnic the kids all scattered to go play with the littles preferring the playground while the older boys preferred playing at the beach.
And we just so happened to run into cousin Rufee who had also been picknicking but was heading out! We were glad we got to say hi to him for a minute. It had been about 3-4 years since we had seen him last!
Then once Ady and Daws got their fill at the playground we headed down to the beach! Some local wards were having an activity day of sorts for their youth so there were lots of canoes on the beach.
We found quite the interesting duck as we were heading back to our car.
Sure love these fun summer afternoons where I get to spend time with my kids! Its so nice having them out of school!
