Silver Lake & Silver Lake Flats

Because the hike up to Silver Lake was 2.2 miles long (one way) and really steep in places, it took us several hours to get up there. Just before we arrived the sun started to go down. The lighting was beautiful though (although I would have loved to see it in full sun), but none of us were disappointed with the magnificent views of the lake. It was definitely a beauty! The kids loved playing on the big boulders all over.

I wish my pictures did this place justice, but for some reason my pictures never capture the true beauty of what I’m seeing. I’m super glad for pictures though and how they help me remember these amazing places!

We didn’t dare spend too much time at the lake since it was already starting dark and none of us had thought to bring head lamps, so we only stayed about 15 minutes before heading home. We loved the views as we headed back down the mountain.

We were able to hike back down the mountain probably twice if not three times faster than we hiked up! The kids did awesome and practically ran down the mountain. Below was the view of Silver Lake Flats when we arrived back at the parking lot to end our adventure.

Sure was an awesome team activity and I so enjoyed getting to know Adam’s co-workers Mitch and Kate better. What great people! I also loved being back up in the mountains I grew up in and couldn’t help but have so many wonderful memories pop up in my head as I hiked. I sure do love this canyon!
