Tony Grove

After dropping off Adam to work in Logan the kids and I headed up to one of my all time favorite places in the world. That of Tony Grove! I don’t know what it is about this place but it just FILLS me and just seems to be the perfect combination of beauty, adventure, wild flowers, boulders, mountains and fun! Plus it is a super easy hike and like hiking up the back side of Timp without having to do all the work! ha ha! For me it is a must see every time we are up at the cabin or at least once a summer! It is a not to miss place in my mind and one of those places I could see over and over and over again without getting bored! It just truly is so beautiful!
I’ve been getting much more daring this past summer too and now feel capable of taking my 5 kiddles out by myself – even on a hike! Its taken me a long time to get to this point, but now it doesn’t even phase me. I just pack up Jamis in the backpack, grab some snacks and drinks for everyone, and off we go! We’ve had a super fun summer because of that and I’m finding so much joy in creating these fun memories with my kids!

One of the things I like best are the wild flowers! Unfortunately most of the flowers had bloomed and died by the time we hiked, but there were a few stragglers here and there that I was able to photograph! Oh how these flowers make me happy!

While we were hiking, I ended up spotting a cave up on the hill (can you see it behind the kids?) so we ventured up that way to check it out. Unfortunately the terrain got pretty difficult for me to go all the way up with Jamis in the backpack, but the kids could handle it easily, so I sent them up with my camera. I think they forgot to take pictures of the cave though because all the pictures they took were looking the other direction of the lake! Whoops!

This is as close as Jamis and I got to the cave.

When we got about half way around the lake we stopped at the lake to play and eat some snacks.

Brans ended up finding a dead fish in the water and had fun playing with it and trying to scare his siblings! Little stinker!

When it was time to take off and continue back on our hike, we ended up with one of our kids melting down. Harry apparently was offended that he didn’t get to be the leader (he likes to be in front when hiking) because his little sister wanted a turn. So he decided he didn’t want to hike with us anymore or live with us anymore and was going to make his own way in the wilderness. He threw one heck of a pity party and refused to come with us for about 10 minutes but eventually relented when I started getting really upset with him for holding us all up. And I think it helped that I reminded him that our friends were all coming up to the cabin and would most likey be there when we returned. Whatever it was, it got him to start moving and eventually we were able to finish our hike!

I sure do love being in nature and amongst God’s beautiful creations!
