Wedge Cave and Arch

For day two of our camping trip, Adam and I took Katie and Eks to some of our favorite places at the Wedge. That of the cave and Arch just as you are coming into Buckhorn draw. This is a place Adam discovered a few years ago when he googled things to see at the Wedge and it has quickly become one of our favorite hikes while camping here. Its steep but short and great for kids with lots of cool stuff to see at the end. I think Katie and Eks liked it too!

This is Branson pretending to sit on a cactus! This is still one of our favorite stories to tease Harry about as one year he really did sit on a cactus when my Mom saw that his his show was untied and recommended he stop and tie it. Poor Harry just sat right where he was without looking and ended up with hundreds of needles in his wee little bum! Poor fella! But its funny now and one of our favorite family stories! We pretty much tease him about it every time we see a cactus. Luckily he’s good natured about it and laughs with us!

Our little mountain goats attempting the steep trail.

Nature is awesome! Love this Yucca plant and how it can survive in even the worst of circumstances. Who would have thought that one small crack in a rock could yield life?

Cute little Eks, Ady and Brans with some pretty cool rock formations behind them.

The Dad’s and Babes!

This hike even comes complete with your own little Indian shelter! Nice!

And a gorgeous arch with a gorgeous view!

And let us not forget the cool petroglyphs! This place really is a gem of a find!

More petroglyphs!

While everyone else was resting, I decided to go and do a little more exploring and was able to get to the other side of the arch where I hoped I could climb my way to see more cool things. These are some of the things I saw as I went.

Then It was time to head back to the group! Got this cute shot of my Daws on the way.

Just as I got back there was a bit of commotion when Harry’s face started getting all blotchy looking and the other kids were asking him what was wrong. It ended up that he was having an allergic reaction to something, but we still aren’t sure what it was. The rash went away within an hour though but I snagged this pictures so I can show my doctor.
