Zion Ponderosa Swimming Pool – The Egberts Take Over

After breakfast the original plan had been to make up a bunch of sack lunches, change into our swim suits, and head out to Zions to hike the Narrows, but Chris and Nan just happened to be driving in from Arizona through Zions that morning and said that Zions was insanely packed and that there was no parking, and could take up to 2 hours to get from parking to being shuttled into the Narrows where we were planning to hike. So all the Egberts debated for some time and considered doing another hike to an overlook (that was 7 miles long round trip) but in the end someone came up with the ingenious idea of going swimming first and then trying to hike the narrows later after crowds died down! It ended up being the perfect solution to our problem! And since we were all in our swim suits anyway in preparation to get wet by hiking through the narrows, it made for an easy transition.
However, because there were 48 of us, we literally ended up taking over almost the entire pool! I felt bad for other people who were there to play, but luckily we left most of the chairs open and mostly congregated into one pool. But man were there a lot of us! Below are some fun pictures of our afternoon at the Ponderosa pool.
Cute Miles! (Casey and Andrea’s little boy)

Love this shot of lots of Egberts ready to do some cliff jumping into the water!

I spy about 19 Egberts in the pool!

Alex and Erica were awesome and loved helping out with the little kids while parents (like me) either took pictures or helped other kids swim.

The Almost Weds! They had 12 days to go when this picture was taken!

Although Jamis loved playing in the hot tubs, he was never too happy to be moved into the colder pools! Love the look on his face. Like mother like son. 🙂

I’m fairly certain that 100% of the people in that hot tub are Egberts! 😉

My favorite shot of the day! Love the joy on all the kids faces!

We ended up eating our sack lunches at the pool and then Jamis and Ady and I headed back to our trailer for naps. Ady and I went right out but Jamis took some time and fought going to sleep tooth and nail (plus it was really hot). He eventually got himself down though, but I had to laugh at his position. I think he’d been sitting up trying to fight off the sleep, but eventually just konked. So funny! Love this little fella!
