Washington D.C.

Day 4 back East was once again spent in Washington DC since there is so much cool stuff to see!

We started our day out with breakfast at the hotel and then drove over to the Smithsonian museum of art where Adam let the kids and I out while he and Branson went to find parking. We walked through the sculpture garden, and then all met up at the Natural history museum where we explored everything from mummy’s to minerals for several hours.

We then had lunch across the street and shared a BBQ pork sandwich, chicken sandwich, Caesar salad, and fries, before running through some sprinklers and heading to the castle just across the way.

We then went and checked out the Industrial art museum before parting ways.

Bless Adams heart he tried 3x to get us all tickets to the top of Washington monument and even woke up early to take a scooter the morning of to get first come first serve tickets, and waited in line for an hour – but alas, he was 8 people short of getting more tickets. 😢

He thankfully had managed to get one ticket online that he had booked a month or two earlier, so I insisted he go and take pictures for the rest of us.

However, an amazing tender mercy happened when Adam showed up at his appointment time and got talking to a worker. The worker heard his story and took pitty on him and told him he could squeeze us all in! 🥰 The kids and I were exploring the botanical gardens at the time about a 15 minute walk away from the monument, and booked it over there as fast as we could, and all 7 of us were allowed to go up! Wow! There is still so much good in the world! 🙏 Thank you kind worker! 🥰

But the top was amazing and we got some great pics of the city. DC seriously is incredible and so beautiful! Going up to the top was the highlight of the day for me!

We then drove 30 minutes away to Kensington for dinner where we tried Ethiopian food for the first time, (so yum!) and then had tickets to the Washington DC temple open house! It was the first time going through a temple for our youngest kids and fun to see their reactions. I felt such a beautiful spirit in the celestial room which made me so grateful for my forever family! ❤️

We ended the day by driving 2 hours to Lewes, Delaware where one of Adams old Adobe co-workers had generously offered us his beach house for a few nights! (More on that later). It was about 10:30 pm by the time we arrived and we were all completely exhausted after walking all day, so it was straight to bed again for everyone! But another fantastic day exploring back East!
