Right after seeing the temple of the Emerald Buddha, our tour guide then took us into see the Grand Palace. This is where the king used to live back in the day, but mostly its just used for tourism now. However the building below is actually a hotel of sorts that is used when important visitors are in town. Apparently President Obama stayed here when he visited, but usually this building doesn’t get much use. It was right next to the palace, but looked up and gated (I’m taking a picture between the gate slots).
And here is the Grand Palace! Isn’t it beautiful? I love love love the trees here. They remind me of Dr. Suess books!
This building next to the palace is actually a funeral home. But only for very important dignitaries, kings, etc.
If you can’t tell from this picture and the red sweaty faces on everyone, Thailand is HOT! Some do better with the hot temperatures than others. ha!
And some more family shots from the entrance to the palace and emerald Buddha temple.
These were the faces I got after I bribed the kids with ice cream if they smiled! Nice try guys! 🙂
