Tonsai Bay & a Muddy Hike Home

After our fun day visiting different islands and beaches, we apparently didn’t get our fill because that evening we decided to hit up just one last beach. That of Tonsai Bay which was on the same island but only accessible by boat, OR by foot when the tide goes down low enough that you can walk over!  Ha!  So walk over we did!
But not before a little dinner of pancakes with honey, scrambled eggs, and fresh juice all around!

Then it was beach time!  We loved these awesome sand formations the crabs made as they buried themselves at low tide.

Here we are at West Railay Beach.
Tonsai is actually to the right of this picture on the other side of those mountains.

Love this shot with Adam and the kids!
This was looking back at the beautiful trees and mountains behind us.

Here you can see the mountains of Tonsai bay and the little area we had to walk around.

We had to walk over some pretty serious volcanic rock to get over to the bay, but the kids loved finding fun things in all the tide pools as we went along.

And here we are at Tonsai Bay!  Beautiful isn’t it?

Adam went out in the tide pools with Brans and Harry while I stayed on the softer sandy part of the beach to play with these two cuties!

We loved getting to see the sunset as we played.

Then after playing for awhile, it was time for our walk home.  We had planned to just go back the way we had come on the rocky beach, but as we were leaving someone told us about another way that went through the jungle next to the mountain cliffs.  It looked like it might be easier, so we opted for that.  That ended up being the joke of the night because our “easier hike back” ended up requiring a head lamp, lots of ropes, and had us sliding around in the mud like we were hogs!  We were all filthy dirty and covered in mud by the time we got over from all the slipping around and sliding we did on this trail!  It was crazy!  Its all for the story though right?  And it certainly was one we will remember for years to come!  We sure do love Thailand!
