Adobe Work Party, Ward Block Party, Trick or Treating and Dinner at Moms…

One of my favorite things about Adam working for Adobe (who bought Omniture) is that they go ALL OUT for Halloween. And I’m talking the works. They give each department around $600 to decorate their offices and then have a big competition to see whose is best (The winning department gets $5000 to spend as they wish). The best part is that Adobe invites all the families to come and see what they’ve done. The Adobe employees do not take this lightly and its always so fun to see the themes they’ve come up with.

This year they did things a little differently (due to the Fire Marshall coming down on them) and so they were a bit more “organized” and required you to wait in line outside before going in each building (they only allowed so many people in the building at a time). However, they did make up for it by having some pretty cool entertainment.

The kids totally loved this cowboy on stilts who juggled and made balloon animals and swords.

Darth Vador was a hit!

Adobe also has a big costume contest. This guy was one of the winners!

Waiting in line (I’m supposed to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast but got mistaken for the girl from footloose on her way to the dance at Lehi Roller Mills too!)

Mum and Smurf came to check out the fun!

They also provided free cotton candy and popcorn while people waited!

This guy preferred suckers and went through about 3 or 4 while going through the offices

Once inside things were pretty wicked awesome! I loved the Mummy!

And the decorations were amazing (Remember you are walking through CUBICALS! But you SO can’t tell)

Frankenstein!

One of the buildings did an 80’s Games Theme.
Here the kids are in the jail on the “Monopoly board.)

Going across the bridge in “Battleship” where the kids got to shoot guns to sink the ships.

Here we are in “Mario Brothers.” I’m sporting some “Flower Power.”

Aaaah We got caught in the “Mouse Trap!” (That Adam actually made and which went up and down on its own). Super Cool.

Because there were three buildings to check out, there were also three lines we had to wait in. It was such a beautiful day though and this line provided us with some great music from a band Adobe brought in as well as a guy who walked an invisible dog (the kids got a kick out of that) and the world CHAMPION for Yo Yo’ing!

Harrison got pretty tired around this time (he’d missed his nap) and spent most of the time resting in the stroller or laying on the grass.

The Yo Yo guy and band (in the background).

This building was pretty sweet and had a 70’s Disco theme! The kids and I had fun rocking out!

Winners of Nascar!

My favorite part of this building though was the “Shrek Theme.” Here Brans is peaking out from Shreks outhouse!

Adam taking a dump!

I LOVED this Somoan Shrek and Adam told me later that he won first prize in the costume contest.

Not my gumdrop buttons!

The big bad wolf in shreks bed

The also had a “Cereal Theme” and had people dressed up like Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam and had fun “athletic things” for the kids to do (Wheaties).

Smurf is the new face for Fruit Loops!

I’m not sure if this was a theme or not but they had a giant sized picture of Traverse Mountain with the new location of the Adobe building.

After going through all the buildings we were all EXHAUSTED and headed back home. However we had a neighborhood block party going on just as we arrived and so we decided to run over and say hello and show our support before heading home. It was AWESOME! And apparently our neighborhood goes all out every year for this event. They had a projector movie going on with popcorn, a spray paint your hair booth, sucker pull, hotdog stand, Ottis spunkmeyer cookie booth, Chili, and lots of games like bean bag toss, bowling, fish pond, and a haunted house for the kids. We were really impressed and I’m already trying to figure out what our family can do next year. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures.

On Saturday we had a pretty low key day and ended up just doing housework and taking it easy most of the day. We had a pretty awesome rain storm come in late afternoon and the kids were pretty worried we wouldn’t be able to go trick or treating, but alas, the rain stopped about 6:00 and the most beautiful rainbow came out. Within minutes the trick or treaters were OUT with a vengeance and the boys ran to get on their costumes!

The awesome rainbow that came after the storm

Brans switched things up a bit (since his Lion costume was in the wash) and went as a Jedi Master

Harry as Tigger

And Dawson as the Frog Prince

To end our fun filled Halloween weekend we went up to my Mom and Dads in Alpine on Sunday for a family party. We had a yummy spaghetti salad and Texas toast dinner and then the kids showed Nana and Papa all their Halloween costumes. Then Nana and Papa gave all the kids a goody bag with some fun treats and crafts in it. The kids made “skull” necklaces and then decorated their bags with stickers and then drew Halloween pictures. We ended the night by eating some yummy “graveyard brownies” that Stacey had made. Sure was a wonderful weekend spent with so many we love!
