On Saturday it was a beautiful day so we decided to head up to Bear Lake to try to see the Minetonka Cave. We had attempted going up there the year before but the wait was over 2 hours long – so we ended up not getting to go. This time, however, we tried to get up there early to beat the crowds. We ended up getting up there just after 10:00 am (the first tour) and still ended up having an hour wait to go in. But the boys didn’t seem to mind a bit and we just eat some snacks, watched chipmunks, and played around.

After lunch we headed back to our cabin where Dawson, and Adam and I took some long winters naps while Harry and Branson watched movies. Later Adam pulled out the tree swing (which is a queen sized bed frame and mattress that has been around since Adam was a boy) and he and the boys had fun swinging on that (unfortunately it makes me dreadfully nauseous).
Then later that evening our wonderful friends the Jurgens came up to spend the night. Missy and Joey made us a scrumptious meal of dutch oven chicken pot pie, cranberry salad, and some yummy fruit and fruit dip leftover from a baby shower Missy had thrown that day. It was HEAVENLY. The kids had fun running around and playing in the lofts while the adults watched “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and caught up on life. Then after putting the kids to bed later that evening the adults played Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary before heading off to bed.
Sunday morning Adam and I made egg McMuffins, waffles, and fruit for breakfast and then after doing some quick cabin cleaning and packing we got the Jurgens sent off (they had to get home for church meetings). Then we headed out ourselves to attend church in Logan. We went to all three meetings (which was SOOOO nice – since I’m usually in Primary and don’t get to attend RS and Sunday School) and then we headed back to our cabin to continue our afternoon of fun.
We had a lovely meal of homemade stew, bread, and fruit for lunch and then Dawson and I laid down for a nap while Adam took the kids on a little hike around the cabins. Afterwards we watched a movie together, finished cleaning the cabin, and then made some sandwiches to take on the road for dinner that night. We ended up heading out about 6:00 pm and making it home just in time for bedtime at 8:30. Sure was a fun last getaway before all the craziness of having a new baby hits. We all had a wonderful time! A huge thank you to Cam and Jake for helping get us unstuck and to the Jurgens for coming up and hanging out with us for a night. We sure love you guys!
