Bear Lake Family Reunion

This last weekend was our Harrison family reunion up at Bear Lake. Adam took Friday and Monday off work so we decided to head up to Bear Lake Thursday evening after Ad got off work to make the most of our weekend.

On the way we stopped for dinner at McDonalds for the kids and then the “Training Table” where Ad and I split a salad, BBQ Burger, and cheese fries.

We arrived at our Condo overlooking Bear Lake at 9:30 at night so we just put the kids straight to bed and then Ad and I stayed up and watched TV. The next morning after breakfast and baths we headed over to where my Mom and Dad were camping in their trailer. We ended up spending most of the morning with them playing on the swingset, digging in the sand, and going on an Easter Egg hunt! The boys were in heaven.

For lunch we headed back over to our condo where we made homemade Quizno subs and then spent the rest of the afternoon talking, playing games (a new one called “Go Wacky”) and taking long leisurely naps.

Later that night we went out for Garden City’s legendary “Raspberry shakes” and then came back and had spaghetti for dinner.

Jake and Stacey arrived late Friday night and also brought their trailer and then Saturday morning everyone came over to the condo where we had an amazing breakfast of Belgium waffles, bacon, juice and milk. YUM! Then we all decided to go swimming in our indoor pool at the condo. The kids LOVED it and it was hard convincing them to leave 2 hours later.

After swimming we went back to where my Mom and Dad and Jake and Stacey were camped for lunch (leftover spaghetti and Hunters Stew) and then my brother Luke and sister-in-law Shannon arrived with their family. The adults had fun lounging around talking while the kids played on the playground all afternoon. Then we went and hit up “Heritage Days” in Garden City that was going on and looked at all the booths they had set up. We of course had to again stop for “raspberry shakes” while we were out and about. 🙂

Then that evening Luke and Shannon made us a wonderful dinner of homemade Cafe Rio smothered burritos (UMMM). When it got cold we started a fire to warm up and then moved the party inside where Mom had organized a “can’t lose” game of Bingo where we all got prizes when we finally got bingo! (Coloring books and crayons for the kids, and candy or office supplies for the adults).

Love this pic of Dawson with his messy “burrito face.”
(notice the black bean under his chin and corn hanging from his nose)

That evening instead of staying in our condo we ended up going down and staying in our cabin in Logan with Luke and Shannon and their family. The next day was Sunday so we all slept in pretty late and then Ad and I went to church at the same 11:30 ward we found the week before. Luke and Shannon were kind enough to take the kids for us (since it was naptime for Dawson). When we got back from Church Mom and Dad and Jake and Stacey joined us at the cabin for a Roast Beef, mashed taters and gravey, corn, green bean casserole, fruit salad, and flaky biscuit lunch. Then we spent the rest of the day playing the ladder game, horse shoes, sitting around the fire, and playing on the tree swing.

These two were so cute together!

Monday I made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast and then we all cleaned up the cabin and headed home. Sure was a wonderful family reunion! Thanks Mom and Dad for putting it together! We sure missed you Jess and Nick!
