Coulter Bay Egbert Reunion

Back towards the end of July Adam and the kids and I were able to go up to the Jackson Hole / Teton National Park area for a bit of fun with the Egbert side.  Dean (Adam’s oldest brother by 20 years) was in charge of the big reunion this year and he and Janet did an absolutely fantastic job!
We started our fun Wednesday by driving the 7 hours up to Jackson Hole and then set up camp in the Teton National Park in a place called Coulter Bay.  It was BEAUTIFUL.  Adam and I took our tent trailer up and so the remainder of the evening (at least for me because of Adam’s hurt shoulder) was spent putting up the trailer and getting unpacked and unloaded and then making sure EVERYTHING that had any smell to it was safely put away in the cab of our truck to avoid attracting bears.  Whew!  Talk about a long day!  Luckily my wonderful nephew Thammy helped me with the hardest stuff.  Bless him!
Thursday morning we had a wonderful breakfast of breakfast burritos and then Uncle Dean showed all the kids how to make bracelets.  They all loved this activity.  They also had a “store” where they could buy treats or prizes for doing good deeds and earning beads around camp.  Ingenious!  We had the tidy-est camp EVER!

These two got to meet each other for the first time and we had a ball watching them interact together.  They both love to spit raspberries, and make most of the same noises.  It was ADORABLE to watch them together!  But even though Grayson is younger by about 6 weeks he’s way more advanced when it comes to physical capabilities.  That kid can WALK!  He’s amazing!

After breakfast we headed out for a big family hike around String Lake.  Branson loved sitting in the front seat up with Daddy!

The view on the drive over was breathtaking.  These were taken out my car window as I was pumping a bottle for Adalynn!

We have to laugh at this picture because pretty much EVERYONE in the Egbert family owns a Honda Pilot.  Here are just 4 of the 6 in the family (missing ours and Dean and Janets old one they gave to Casey).  Adam thinks we should get all of them together and send in pictures for a commercial!

Heading down to String Lake
This little one cracked me up as he had to take the sticks he found EVERYWHERE!  This is just his stash he put together within the first 5 minutes of arriving.

Some pictures from along the way!

Later that evening we all drove into Jackson Hole (which is about an hour drive from camp each way) and we went to an awesome dinner show at the Bar J Wranglers.  We all got a traditional cowboy meal with meat n’ taters and the worst watered down lemonade (which they explained was fairly authentic since cowboys didn’t have lemonade) and then they started the show.  They had 4 or 5 different cowboys singing and boy howdy they were AWESOME!  My favorite was the guy with the deep deep base voice singing “Bid Bad John.”  He did a great job and I couldn’t help but do some chair dancing as I listened to the songs. I really enjoyed the show.  Adam bless his heart took all the kids outside (as they were WIRED and too excited to sit still for several hours) where he was able to watch the kids and catch up with his nephew Kyle who had just flown in from Texas – so unfortunately he didn’t get to SEE much of the show.  But he did get to at least hear it.

The next day we were all pretty worn out from the day before and so most of us took it a little easier.  We had it on the schedule to go and do the Alpine Slide and Tram that day – but pretty much everyone boycotted that idea for hanging out at camp, taking naps, and catching up around the campfire.  However, later that afternoon we all did venture over to Jackson Lake for a little swimming action for some, and rock throwing for others, or to just sit and read a book.  I absolutely LOVED this and just felt like I was in my own little heaven looking across the lake at those mountains!  My goodness were they beautiful!

Below are some pics of the boys enjoying themselves in the water (unfortunately Mommy forgot her swim suit and had to just wade up to my knees).
Harrison our Birthday Boy!  I still can’t believe he is FIVE!

Paris, Dean, and Sammy about to take a swim.

Most of the ladies opted to sit out and enjoy the warmth of the sunshine.  The water was a bit chilly!

That day we also had our big family meeting where we do our sisters gift exchange and then pass the baton on to the new reunion people (who will be Steven and Marcie).  Dean presented us each with an amazing book he had compiled with stories from the Egbert and Felix ancestors and then he also presented Mumsie with a book we all sent pictures in for showing just SOME of the incredible quilts she’s made for us all.  The book had over 100!  It was amazing and she really loved it.  Dean also talked about missionaries in our family and had each of the boy kids who would someday go on missions stand up.  It was pretty cool to see.

That night we had a big thunderstorm come in and boy oh boy did it pour!  It was during dinnertime too so it became quite interesting trying to find places to eat dinner without getting soaked or being in 3 inch deep puddles.  Needless to say a big toasty fire was in order after dinner to dry us all out!  We had a great time talking though and sharing stories.

The last day of our adventure was Saturday and most everyone just got up and started breaking camp.  We did as well seeing as you had to be out of the camp ground by 11 – but because we weren’t heading home and were going over to Idaho to stay with Sister Wilding from my mission – we took our time and had one last adventure before taking off.  Our final destination was to visit Jenny Lake.

Adam ended up not being able to find parking (especially considering he was pulling the trailer by now) so he dropped off me and the kids to go and look for a space.  In the meantime Dawson ended up face planting it on the pavement while running and cut up both of his hands pretty good requiring a few bandaids.  CRAZY. I also had to take all 4 kids to the bathroom and that was pretty fun too, especially considering all 3 of the boys refused to go into the ladies restroom with me and the line for the girls side was 20 people long!  Luckily the kids were good though and stayed right where I told them too after they got done going.  🙂

Daddy showed up about then and he took a trail down to the Lake and then found ourselves a nice little secluded picnic spot down by the water.  It was PERFECT!

The boys loved skipping rocks and jumping from one rock to another and exploring the area.

Sis and I had fun eating whale crackers and playing pat a cake!

Later we too decided to put our toesies in the water.
Adalynn wasn’t such a fan but put on a happy face anyway!

I love this picture of her snuggled up with Adam.  She sure loves her Daddy!

He kinda likes her too! A LOT!

All in All it was a WONDERFUL reunion and I don’t think you can get prettier scenery than the Teton area. Wow are those mountains gorgeous!  We sure had a great time and owe a great deal of that to Dean and Janet who really went the extra mile putting together the reunion!  We sure love you guys!
Thanks for all your hard work!  Awesome job!
