Couples Trip to Daytona Beach

Back towards the beginning of November – Adam and I were able to sneak away for 6 days on our annual couples get-away.  Since I was craving something WARM and wanting a beach to boot (but needing to stay stateside), our choices were either Hawaii or Florida.  BUT…unfortunately Southwest doesn’t yet fly to Hawaii and we wanted to use our FREE tickets, so Florida it was! 🙂  Then we were even more pleased when we discovered that November is “off season” in Florida so we got a screaming deal on a two bedroom condo (like $50 bucks a night).  SCORE!

The best part though, was that because we were so under budget for our trip – we were able to splurge a bit and rent THIS BABY!

I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, but Adam was like a little kid on Christmas!  He absolutely LOVED driving that Mustang all over Daytona Beach and always had the below look on his face whenever he was behind the wheel.  It made me happy to see him so happy!

Unfortunately the night before we were supposed to leave for our big couples trip and AS we were driving the kids to the babysitters I ended up coming down with some random flu bug (or maybe food poisoning?) and threw up in the car about 5 times in an hour.  Luckily though the throwing up ended after that and I was able to sleep just fine that evening and even got up at 5:30 am for our flight the next morning.  But boy were we sweating it for awhile!  Adam’s sister Marcie was kind enough to let us crash at her place even despite my random sickness and puking.  She really is so kind.  But because of my throwing up episode the day before it meant that I was pretty wiped out that first day of our trip.  Adam was so sweet though and just let me take things easy back at our condo.  We loved how roomy and open it felt.

The bathroom was ginormous and Adam loved that there was this open window type thing where you could see from the bathroom into the bedroom and visa versa!

After resting for a bit, we decided it might be nice to go and sit in the hot tub for awhile, so we went down that evening to soak in the hot water.  It was so nice just being able to relax and we both loved listening to the waves and having some peaceful alone time. 😉

The next day was a Sunday and so we found a ward just out of Daytona that we could attend.  Adam wasn’t too bummed about having to make a longer drive to church than normal since it meant he got to get behind the wheel of his beloved Mustang again!  He seriously just loved that thing!  Boys and their toys! 🙂

Then after church we ended up having to check out of our 1 bedroom condo and then re-check into our 2 bedroom condo (because of availability) and that meant we had a few hours on our hands until they had our new room ready – so we were able to take a tour of the condo’s grounds and go for a walk along the beach!  We loved that the condo was right there next to the ocean!  So pretty!

We also loved the pool area of the condo.  They had 2 different pools, 3 hot tubs, a lazy river, and then a kids water play area as well.  Oh and a couple indoor pools as well! Nice!

Later that evening Adam took a nice long Sunday drive in his Mustang with the top down (the wind hurt my ears so we usually left the top up when I was in the car) and I stayed back at the condo to nap and read.  It was a great first day in Daytona though!  We sure loved just being able to spend time together!  What a blessing!
