On March 11th my Dad turned the BIG 65! It’s still so surreal to think my Dad is that old but lucky for him he holds his age well and doesn’t look a day over 69. đ ha ha. Just teasin’ Pappy Pants!
To celebrate the big event my Mom put together a fun family dinner at one of my Dad’s favorite restaurants Mi Ranchito. As kids growing up Mi Ranchito’s was one of my Dad’s go-to-places when it was his night to do dinner and often he would come home with a couple of HUGE Nachos for our family to share. It was usually either that or a bucket of chicken or some cheap burgers from Burger King. So going to Mi Ranchito’s was sort of nostalgic for all of us and a great place to celebrate Dad’s big day!
As our big gift to Dad this year I had called each of my siblings and their spouses along with all of my nieces and nephews so that we could capture 65 reasons we love my Dad, special memories with Dad, and things we’ve learned from Dad. Then I formatted and printed them all and had them framed so that Dad can hang them on his wall and remember all the many reasons we love him and the way he is impacted all our lives for good. We were able to capture thoughts from all 15 grandchildren, and all of us kids and our spouses. Dad really is a treasure in each of our lives and it was so easy coming up with fun memories and experiences Dad has given us over the years. What a blessing he is to our family. We are who we are today because of the good things my Dad has passed down to us and taught us over the years.
After stuffing our faces with lots of orders of “nachos” and some other favorite dishes, the wait staff all came out and were able to present my Dad, Mom and brother Jake (who also all have birthdays in March) with 3 yummy desserts of fried ice cream while serenading Dad with whoops and hollars, music, and song. Oh and let us not forget the Mexican sombrero’s and coo-ca-rachas! đ So fun!
We ended the night with pie and cupcakes and lots of smiles and love! Sure was a great birthday celebration for a great man! Sure love you Pappy Pants! Happy 65th old man! đ
Dad reading the “large print” version of the 65 things we love about him while Mom holds up the condensed – need a microscope to read – framed version. đ
We were able to pick my Papa up to join us as well. We loved seeing Jake and his family too and afterwards we all went to see their new house that is close to being finished.
Favorite cousins! Collin and Kaden are 6. Harry is 5.5.
The “kid” side of the table. đ
Let the serenading begin!
