After a little while we both needed to use the restroom so we packed up our stuff and decided to go find another spot we could enjoy on the beach for a little while. We ended up deciding on this little spot in the kids play area where it was nice and shallow.
We spend a good hour there as well just reading in our books until we again decided we wanted a change of scenery and we kept walking until we found another spot we liked. This ended up being our final beach destination for the day and this time we decided a little more SHADE was in order considering we were already pretty burned. đ
We ended our last night in paradise by going to our favorite beach front restaurant for a Seafood dinner. Mom got the surf and turf and I got a grilled shrimp dish and both were divine. And of course we had to have one last Pinja Colada to end our very wonderful vacation!
The next day we spent the morning packing up our bags and then we had breakfast on the beach and spent some time reading in our rooms. Then we headed down to the front desk to check out at 11:45, left our bags with the bell hop and then ran to grab our last meal at the poolside restaurant. Then it was off to the airport for us. Luckily all went really smoothly with our flights and customs and we were able to make it back to Utah safely at 10:20 Thursday evening. My Dad had planned to pick us up from the airport and then I was going to spent that night at my parents since it was too late for Adam to come and pick me up with the kids already being in bed, so you can imagine my surprise when I was greeted not only by the face of my wonderful husband but also by the faces of my 4 darling children all dressed up in funny hats!! It truly was the best surprise ever and I loved being able to see my family as soon as I got home! Thanks so much Adam for putting that all together. I so heart you! It was the perfect ending to a perfect trip.
In reflection of my week away in Mexico I just have to say that I just came home feeling so very grateful for all that I have. The week away helped me to remember how much I love being a wife and mother even when my days are crazy and filled to the brim with busy busy busy, go go go, and give me, give me, give me. My family is the most important thing in the world to me and I’m so grateful they are in my life. The week away also was amazing in the way that it completely FILLED me. I came away realizing that we as Mommy’s give a lot and that sometimes even though it feels selfish we need to take time away to fill up our own love buckets. Its hard to always be the one to fill up others buckets with love and its vitally important that every once in awhile we fill up our own! We can’t always be running on empty!
Mostly I came away from my trip just feeling like I’d been given a gift. That of spending a solid week with my wonderful amazing mother. I have so many fond memories spent with my Mom but this one I think will top them all. It was such an incredible experience to be able to just be by her side for an entire week and to see her in her happy place and element. To be able to talk with her openly, to share parts of our lives together, and to bond in new and wonderful ways. We were two peas in a pod she and I and we just enjoyed being together so very much and had a ball doing whatever we felt like everyday! This trip will forever be one I hold very dear to my heart because she was there with me. Thank you my Mommy for coming with me. Thank you for all your love and sacrifices for me over the years. Thank you for being my best friend and cheerleader. I’m so lucky to have you and blessed to be your daughter. I’ll love you forever, now and for always! Your baby girl, Sarah Marie
