Green Smoothies

The past few months Adam and I have really been trying to feed our family better.  We got turned onto doing green smoothies after watching several documentaries showing how important eating greens and fruits and whole grains are.  So in an effort to slowly ease into a healthier life style we have completely switched over from doing cereal and hot breakfasts for green smoothies.  For the most part the kids really like them too and Adam and I love that the kids are getting in about 6-8 servings of fruits and vegetables in just that one meal.  Its helped all of our energy levels to go up and we are all feeling so much better.  Love it!  In the two months we have been doing these smoothies though we’ve gone through 3 blenders.  Yep, you read that right.  THREE.  So we finally decided since we are serious about continuing this great habit in our lives that we needed to invest in a good blender.  Last week Adam was able to get a deal from a friend of a friend and we were hooked up with an amazing price on a Blendtec blender with a 90 oz jar, 64 oz jar, and a twister jar.  AWESOME!!!  And funny enough Adam was by far the more excited about this out of the two of us as he’s always really loved making drinks and smoothies.  It was like Christmas for him!
However, as much as I LOVE my blendtec – I’m learning that it comes with a few quirks.  Like how the lid doesn’t stay on super well when its on high speed and that I really CAN’T walk away like the commercials claim because, well….I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.  ha ha.

Lesson Learned. 🙂
