Halloween this year seemed to last from the morning we woke up until the moment our heads hit the pillow. We certainly got a full days worth of fun in, and we loved every minute of it!
I let the boys decide what they wanted to be the night before Halloween by going up to our playroom and scrounging through all our many many boxes and bins of dress up clothes. I’ve been collecting Halloween stuff for years, and LOVE going to the post Halloween sales, so we have quite the variety of outfits, and I never worry about my kids not having something fun to wear on their big day! Harry this year decided to go as Harry potter (soooo easy!) and Branson went as Darth Vador. The school requested that NO MASKS or Weapons be taken to school, so we had to get a little creative to create the mask effect for Bransons Darth Vador face and hat – but considering I’ve never ever done any face painting before, I didn’t think it turned out half bad. Brans liked it, so thats all that mattered to me. đ

Because I had to get 3 kids all dressed, fed, and ready in their costumes for school that day (including myself and Adalynn) we were all a little late getting out the door and Brans and Harry missed their bus and Dawson was dropped off late for preschool. Oops. BUT…it also meant that I got to be super early to get a good seat at Branson and Harry’s school, so that was nice. We took a few pics outside the school.
Then the parade began starting with Kindergarten. Harrison was next in line being in first grade! He was so cute and happy during the parade! So excited to see Mom and Adalynn there cheering him on!
We had fun seeing our next door neighbor Gaylynn Buys there too! We love her!
Branson was adorable all dressed up and looking so big!
We loved how the front office staff got into the spirit of Halloween as well. The entire office dressed up as characters from Duck Dynasty. So awesome!
Later that afternoon Adalynn and I had some fun trying on different costumes trying to figure out what she wanted to be. She loved the Lion costume, but kept calling herself a “bear.” So funny!
She unfortunately didn’t like the “hat” part of the costume though and kept wanting to rip it off. Aka: why we went with costume numero dos. đ
A butterfly, or fairy. Whichever floats your boat. She liked it and thats all that mattered. đ
Dawson went as an Angry bird and was melting down all night getting upset at everything so we teased him that he didn’t have to ACT like his character – just dress up like him. He was one Angry little bird!
All the kids together! So cute!
Adam went as a Ghost buster and I went as Wilma Flintstone. Some people mistook me for Lucille Ball!

For dinner we went up to Mum and Smurfs where I made our traditional meal in a pumpkin dinner, and then Mumsie warmed up some corn chowder she had. It was delicious! Then we went down to Mum and Smurfs wards Trunk or Treat to let the kids go trick or treating. We set up our own trunk and gave out glow sticks, but when our 200 glow sticks ran out, we had to pack up shop and shut down. We couldn’t believe how many kids from other areas came out for the night. Adam was kind enough to man our trunk and pass out glow sticks, while I took the kids around from car to car trick or treating. It was my first time taking the kids around (I’m usually the one who gives out the candy) so it was nice to switch things up this year. I loved how excited the kids got. Adalynn started out soooo shy, barely saying a word to people when I told her to say thank you (she’d practically whisper it as softly as she could) but by the end of the night she was skipping and running excitedly to the next persons car/trunk and shouting tick n teet (trick or treat), and then loudly shouting Tay-too (thank you) when they gave her candy. She was in candy heaven! And she had a death grip on her bag of candy and wouldn’t let either Adam or I help her hold it when it got to be really heavy. Then she cried later when we tried her to help her sort all her candy. Silly girl. She is one possessive lady when it comes to her chocolate! I’m sure she gets that from me! đ

The kids all loved sorting their candies and seeing how much yummy goodness they had. We let them each eat 5 pieces and then we plan to moderate how much they eat from here on out. So far they are having 1 per day.
To end our fun evening we hit up our own neighborhood where we went to see one of our neighbors the Griffiths garage spook alley. Dan Griffith absolutely LOVES Halloween and has been collecting cool decorations and costumes for YEARS. He now has quite the collection and every year he sets up a spook alley to share his treasures with the kids. Its really so much fun! The boys absolutely loved getting to go and see everything. They gave us quite the scare too, when we all thought one of the scary “guys” was a fake and it was really Dan dressed up! đ He got us good!
Sure was a fun Halloween! We always look forward to dressing up and acting like kids again! Adam and I ended the night by watching a scary movie (which luckily did NOT give me nightmares since it was pretty unrealistic). Wishing you all a very Happy Halloween!
