This past weekend I was going through some boxes looking for some study manuals and came across the baby books I had gotten for Branson and Harrison when they were first born. Luckily I had been pretty good at recording most of the important events in their lives like first smiles, when they crawled, what foods they liked, when they walked, etc. and it was so fun to go through their books, look at pictures, and reminisce about sweet moments we had shared together when they were babies.
But then I made a realization.
Dawson has no baby book!
I AM SUCH A HORRIBLE MOTHER! I can’t believe I have gone 15 months to be exact without even noticing that I never purchased a baby book for Dawson. It is usually on my “Mother to be – nesting to do list” and normally the book is purchased well beyond the time my babies are even born. And yet here we are more than a year later and I am just NOW coming to realize this! I am seriously considering turning myself into the parenting police! What is my deal?
The only consolation I do have is that I think I captured a lot of his “big events” in my personal journal so hopefully I can correct this erroneous error and still fill in most of blank pages once I do make it around to getting Dawson his very own baby book. I also have the blog books I print every year, with lots of milestones, but still…I think it only fair he gets his own little book like his two older brothers.
Therefore, this post will be ALL ABOUT DAWSON! He had his 15 month check up this week and is one Healthy little boy! We are so pleased! Also I should mention that is is finally WALKING! Yep, it only took him 14.5 months to do it, but he is a champ now and is cruising all over the place by himself without help. Its been so fun for us to see him discover this new found freedom, although we know the messes are just around the corner! We sure love our little guy though!
Dawsons 15 month Stats:
Weight: 23.5 pounds (33rd Percentile)
Height: 33 inches (93rd Percentile)
Head: 18.75 inches (64th Percentile)
Words Dawson likes to say: Mom, Mamma, Dad, Dadda, Nana, Papa, Hi, Uh-oh, No or Ne, Yeah, Tank-oo (thank you).
Words Dawson can sign: All done, please, more, sleepy.
Things Dawson Likes to Do: Loves to climb stairs (up and down by himself), play in the playroom, throw balls, push Harrisons little trike around (while Harrison is riding it), loves to go outside, pick blades of grass, play in the dirt, loves getting stuff out of cupboards, loves unrolling toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, loves taking all Mom’s shoes out of her closet, loves throwing food on the floor and thinks he’s funny when he does. Loves to snuggle with Mom and Dad by laying his head on our shoulders. (We love this too as he’s our first snuggly baby). Loves playing hide and go seek, being chased after, playing peek a boo, and being tickled!
A bit about Dawson: He is almost Always happy. He is one of the quickest babies to get to smile. He loves strangers and will smile at them wherever we go and wave hi. He’s been sleeping through the night since he was 4 weeks old (for the most part) and usually wakes up happy. He loves sleeping with his bear lovey and seems to prefer sleeping on his tummy. He takes 2 naps a day – both for 2 hours at a time. (usually around 9:30 and 2:00). He sleeps from about 7:30 at night until 7:30 in the morning. He has a death grip when he holds your hand which can turn your fingers purple! His hair puffs up in the back and there is nothing we can do about it! (Gel only lasts so long!) Dawson has a fake laugh that cracks us all up. Dawson loves his two older brothers and plays well with them but seems to prefer Branson over Harrison (probably because Branson is a little bit more soft with him). Dawson loves to wrestle and will jump on you if if you are laying down!
Dawson and Food: Dawson sits in the High chair for all of his meals and seems to prefer fruit over anything else. If you don’t put a bib on him and roll up his sleeves he will be covered from head to toe in whatever you gave him. Breakfast usually consists of 1 whole banana, a cutie (orange like fruit), yogurt, piece of bread, and an 8 oz bottle (which he has been holding on his own since he was 3-4 months old). For lunch he likes pretty much whatever we are having – leftovers, PBJ’s, cut up hot dogs, cut up chicken mcnuggets, mac n’ cheese, pizza, etc., and then as much fruit as I will give him. And for dinner he usually will just eat whatever I made that day (with the exception of spicy food like Masman curry, or Mexican food that give him rashes). But again loves the fruit we give him best!
Dislikes: Some of Dawsons dislikes that I’ve come to discover are eggs (so weird to me as my other boys LOVE them), crackers, (all except Graham and animal crackers), being in the bath alone (he will SCREAM bloody murder if I’m not IN the tub with him (sitting besides the tub isn’t good enough). Certain kinds of bread (some he LOVES others he will throw on the floor!).
Songs he likes to be sung: Tender Shepherd, Kumbaya My Lord, Raindrops and Roses and Edelweiss from the Sound of Music, popcorn popping, I love to see the Temple, I am a child of God, San Tokia (Korean song Adam taught me), Oh-a-lay-o-pawk-ee-ah (Indian song my Mom taught me), I went to the Animal Fair, and 2 songs that I made up just for Dawson.
Anyway, we sure love our little Sazza and life just wouldn’t be the same without him. He brings our family so much joy and makes us smile and laugh everyday. We are sure grateful he is part of our family.
