On Wednesday Branson was able to go and meet his new Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Evans. He wanted to look especially slick for her so he put some gel in his hair to make it all “spiky!”
Mrs. Evans was a wonderful lady and we ended up staying for about 45 minutes while she gave Branson some assessment tests. She tested him in recognizing upper and lower case letters, letter sounds, reading words, math, subtractions, recognizing patterns, counting, making his own patterns, colors and all sorts of things. I was one proud Mamma when she announced that Branson had surpassed every other child she had tested and was way beyond where most kindergartners start (He was already able to read and count to 100.) I’m pretty sure its the Egbert genes coming through on that one (although we’ve got some smarts on the Harrison side too) and the help of wonderful Preschool teachers last year.
As we were leaving Mrs. Evans gave Branson a cardboard paper doll (which he is holding below) and asked him to decorate it like himself and bring it to school on the first day.
Later that evening we went out for dinner as a family to celebrate school starting at one of our favorite local places called Papa Kelsey’s. I especially like the food because I worked at a “spin off” place called Hot Papa’s in High School and LOVE their sandwiches and homemade ranch and cinnamon rolls. Yum! We ended up getting 2 big subs (Turkey BLT and Meatball) and 2 drinks to share and took almost half of that home!
Then after dinner we headed up to Pleasant Grove to go and visit our newest addition of our Jurashic Eggs friends group! Little Maxwell Joseph Jurgens was born a few days ago and is just the cutest little thing. I was so happy to be able to love and squish him for a good hour or so at the Jurgens.

Little Max unfortunately has a pretty severe case of Jaundice and has been ordered by the doctors to have lights on him 24-7. This is him in his little blue bed. So cute!
Thursday one of the first things Branson asked to do was to decorate his cardboard man so that it would be all ready for him to take to school on Tuesday. Branson chose to do a green shirt, white pants, and a black belt and shoes. My favorite part of his little man is the HAIR, which I drew to look as similar to Bransons as possible. If you look closely you will see Branson’s “Hurricane cowlick” right smack dab in the middle of his head! 🙂

Then because we were having so much fun, we decided to make Harrison and Dawson a cardboard man as well! The cardboard I used was a little darker than the stuff Mrs. Evans gave us, but the boys still loved them anyway!
