Mommy’s Birthday

For my birthday this year I was very spoiled in the way that I got to spend the entire day with my wonderful amazing Mommy!  My sister had been having some health problems (and still is) so the night before my birthday my Mom and I went over to her house (while Adam and Nick took the kids for a night of fun) to clean Jess’s house and to make some meals for her family that week.  It was great getting to spend time with my Mom and sister and do some good while there.  Then afterwards my sweet Mamma came and slept over at our house so that on Saturday we could have a girls day – just the two of us.
That night we stayed up late listening to Peter Pan on my Nana’s old record play which was quite nostalgic for us both and we talked until late into the evening.  Then on Saturday morning my Mom and Adam got up and made me a yummy popeye pancakes breakfast complete with a beautiful plant Adam had picked up for me that morning (I usually prefer plants over flowers so that I can enjoy them longer).  It was so sweet.  Adam also got me a book and the Just Dance game for the wii.  Super fun. And my Mom made me a cake!

From there my Mom and I took off for our day o’ fun and the first thing I wanted to do was to get my car DETAILED and CLEANED.  With 4 kids its amazing how messy and dirty it can get and I was bound and determined to drive around it it all spiffy and spammy! We ended up in a deep conversation at the Piggly wash in Spanish Fork to the point that we didn’t even hear my name being called multiple times that my car was ready.  ha ha!

From there we headed over to “My Sisters Closet” which is a second hand store with lots of fun clothes.  They were having a $20 sale on all their formal dresses and lucky for me – my Mom and I were able to find one that is MODEST and yet flattering.  I was so excited.  It had a few flaws – but my Mother in law (love her!) was able to fix everything and now it looks perfect.  My Mom paid for the new dress as my birthday present.  Thanks Mom!

For lunch we went to Magleby’s Fresh where Mom got the halibut and I got a turkey club.  And the cashier was nice enough to let us have both a piece of chocolate and a piece of carrot cake for my birthday since I was having trouble deciding!  So we truly got quite the treat that day!  We spent hours in our booth just talking and catching up and it truly was just so therapeutic for me to be there with my Mommy and be able to share with her some of my thoughts on marriage, motherhood, and life in general.  My Mom seriously is the best listener and I’m so grateful to have spent that time together.  She was super tender that day too and just kept getting teary eyed at times when she discussed her love for her children and talked about how much we all meant to her.  I sure do love that Mommy of mine.

To end our girls day we went to Shopko where we were able to get some cute new jewelry and try on some clothes and get Sissy some cute new outfits before Dad came and picked up Mom to head out for the weekend.  Thank you so much Mom for the absolutely fantastic day!  I so do love those precious times when I get you all to myself.  I’m so lucky to have your love and example in my life.  What a gift you are in my life!

The rest of my birthday celebrations included a trip with the kids to Red Robin for their amazing mouth watering whiskey river burgers and fries, and then a little shopping in the mall.  And then Adam made me my very favorite “almost better than kissing cake” (which he made me almost a month after my birthday because we had so much cake from left over from Dawsons birthday and the cake my Mom made me).  All in all it was a wonderful birthday and I feel so grateful for all the precious people in my life that made it so great!  Sure love ya’ll!
